Correct me if I'm wrong, but is CO the only airline to offer nonstop service from the East coast to Hawaii?

If so, is it possible that HA might consider trying for an HNL-NYC/BOS/IAD/PHL route? It seems that a lot of us snowbirds just hate having to connect somewhere in the middle/West part of the country to get to Hawaii!

Yes, the only nonstop from the E Coast is CO's EWR/HNL service.

HA is eyeing the East Coast, since its 16 new 763ERs have the range. ATL is likely, I think, since there's an established market for a nonstop, but no current nonstop.

I seriously doubt if HA will venture to the east coast. They have no marketing presence, no gates, no feeder aircraft, a shortage of 767 qualified pilots etc. They seriously need the 767's to replace their old creaky DC-10's.

Perhaps a marketing agreement with US would help enable HA to fly nonstop to PIT,CLT or PHL. With the loss of AA as a partner, US could really use them. Plus, it would give US customers access to the Pacific.

I dont believe the B767's HI is buying/leasing have the necessary range for HNL to PHL, PIT etc. As a nice new official partner with HA, US could tie in nicely with any PHL-LAX, CLT-LAX etc US non-stops.

HA's new 767ERs have a duration of up to 12 hours, making the East Coast an easy reach.

Robert W. Zoller, president and chief operating officer of Hawaiian, said, "The Boeing 767 is the ideal aircraft for Hawaiian's long-haul route structure. It offers unprecedented efficiency in terms of fuel, maintenance and labor costs. Its range of up to 12 hours opens up a whole new dimension of possibilities for route expansion. And our customers will love the roomy feel of the double-aisle, widebody 777 interiors -- especially the seating configuration, which offers window or aisle seating for 88 percent of the passenger cabin and leaves no one farther than one seat from an aisle."
