OK, I'm new to Hawaii, but with most of my miles on American I've chosen to be a Hawaiian person rather than an Aloha person. Despite the fact that you get only half as much mileage credit (250 vs. 500 miles per segment), I think that American miles will be much more valuable to me than Hawaiian miles, because of the much greater redemption possibilities.

So here are my questions. I took my first inter-island flights last week. They have not posted yet. How long does this usually take?

Second question. When you use coupons, they take away your coupon and don't give you a separate boarding pass. So, with no documentation of the flight, how do you claim credit if it doesn't post?

Thanks - Charlie

I travelled SFO-HNL then a few inter islands and back to SFO finishing on May 20th. Nothing posted yet. I did a couple of Aloha inter islands and they posed to my UA MP account within a day or so. UA seems much more efficient than AA. I am still waiting for an Aer Lingus flight from April to post on AA. A BM flight on the same day posted on United within 48 hours.

Hi,

if you're still wondering about how to get your miles on AA if they don't post automatically, make a photocopy of your ticket/voucher before you go to the airport. That's what I used to do when I first moved here. Now I hardly ever purchase tix on HA or AQ and instead use the 5000-mile award tix that can be had with AA, NW, or UA. Of course, if you fly interisland for business, it's a different story.
