I'm trying to help my in-laws find a place in Waikiki area for the week before and week of Christmas (this year). They've stayed at condos in the Ilikai before and would like to go back there. However, I've heard a few reports of possible construction noise from the Hilton next door. I think that they will be in their room more often than others during the day, so loud construction noise during the day might be a problem. Anyone have any personal experience or knowledge about this? Thanks.

We stayed at the HHV - Alii Tower last month and the construction was in full force. We were told that they were redoing the lagoon area. There was alot of activity (meaning trucks, noise, etc) going on around the Hilton Vacation Tower. They started early and went all day long....beep, beep, beep with the trucks, earthmovers and there was LOUD banging noise, like a pile-driver or something. If I had been staying at HH Vaca Tower, I would have been bummed.

Being that the Ilikai is right across the street from where all the noise was being generated, I'd check first to see how long the construction will last.
