Hello:
Can you please share with me some ways on getting from FRA airport to the city center. I'll need to go to the area not far from the Borse, north of the river. (Staying at the ArabellaSheraton Grand).

How long does taxi take? How much does it cost?
Other alternatives that are quick, easy, or reasonably-priced?

THANKS in advance!

Quick reply, but look at the FRA web site and the Getting To/From link on the left hand side. It will tell you all you need to about the train/S-bahn option.

The train comes so often and is so easy, I cannot see paying for a cab. My advice is stick with 'Die Bahn'.

It's a 17 minutes S-Bahn ( local train ) trip from the FRA Regionalbahnhof ( local train station ) to the Konstablerwache next to the Arabella.

No need to change trains, but a bit of attention towards your luggage might be required. The Konstablerwache and surroundings are not the best of areas especially late in the evening.

Thanks! And really? should I not be staying in this area? In what way is this "not the best" of areas?

The Konstablerwache and surroundings are not the best of areas especially late in the evening.

The Arabella is next to a major crossing where the pedestrian shopping street Zeil turns markedly more downmarket. There are some immigrant gangs from the adjacent area who sometimes cause problems in and around the Konstablerwache station.

On the other hand, you get good and cheap food from just about every corner of the world a short hop across the street.

The centre of Frankfurt is very mixed, there is a lot of high society and a lot of crap next to each other. I'd say there is no need to avoid that area completely. You'll be staying in a good hotel next to the main shopping mall and within walking distance to the main sights and museums, which is fine. The hotel couldn't survive if the area was actually dangerous. In the daytime you'll be perfectly safe, even in the subway station. (Well, the usual pickpocket stuff may occur like in any other big city.) Use a little caution and common sense at night, though, like avoiding the subway and using the bus or a taxi instead if you return to your hotel late in the evening.

Watch out for the Eastern European gangs that hussle you with games and trick you.

Smile, and keep walking...
