AIR CANADA AND EVA AIR TEAM UP TO OFFER NON-STOP VANCOUVER - TAIPEI SERVICE
MONTREAL - Air Canada and EVA Air are teaming up to launch non-stop service between Vancouver and Taipei, giving travelers the convenience of six flights a week between Canada and Taiwan.
EVA Air will launch its service on June 2, 1999 with three Boeing 747 non-stop flights a week between Vancouver and Taipei. Effective July 5, Air Canada will launch three non-stop Airbus A340 flights on the route. Together, EVA Air and Air Canada will provide travelers with daily service on a codeshare basis Monday through Saturday. With an early morning arrival into Taipei, the schedule is designed to offer customers maximum same-day connection opportunities to most Asian destinations. The service is subject to government approval.
"As Taiwan's leading independent airline we are delighted to work with Air Canada to increase business, cargo and leisure links between Taiwan and Canada," said K.W. Nieh, Deputy Senior Vice President for EVA Air. "Our new partnership will result in a high quality, reliable service for customers."
"Air Canada is proud to team up with EVA Air, a leading airline with an excellent international reputation," said Danielle Poudrette, Air Canada's Vice President, International. "The result will be a convenient, six-flights-a-week, non-stop service for Pacific travelers. Our early morning arrival in Taipei dovetails perfectly with EVA Air's 205 weekly flights between Taipei and other Asian destinations. It's another big step in the development of Air Canada's trans-Pacific network."
Air Canada flights will be operated with Airbus A340 aircraft providing 284 seats in two classes, featuring Air Canada's award winning Executive First service. Cabin crew will have the ability to serve travelers in English, French as well as Mandarin. All passengers will have global access telephones at arm's length as well as audio and video entertainment in English, French and Mandarin. Passengers will be offered the choice of Asian and western cuisine.
EVA Air's Vancouver-Taipei flights will be operated using Boeing 747-400 aircraft in an all-passenger configuration of 342 seats. EVA Air offers four classes of service: Super First (12 seats), Super Business (34 seats), Economy (128 seats) and its distinctive Evergreen Deluxe Class (168 seats) featuring spacious cabins, a seating configuration usually found only in business class, personal seat-back TV, satellite telephones, 38-inch seat pitch and deeper, wider seats.
EVA Air is Taiwan's leading airline and a part of Taiwan's Evergreen Group. It serves a worldwide network of 36 major destinations in the United States, Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East and Central America, with one of the world's youngest fleet of aircraft.
