While looking for good deal European fares lately on kayak.com, I have often generated results showing excellent fares, at least on NWA, from airfare.com. eg today DTW-CDG on NW is $587 on kayak->airfare.com, vs $697 on the NW site. Similar prices have been coming up for days.
When I click on the fare it takes me to airfare.com, confirms the fare and asks for travellers names and CC info. I've never gone quite that far, but have on 2 occasions called airfare.com. On both occasions the fare they then quoted was HIGHER than the NWA.com site.
Is airfare.com a legitimate site?

Does the website clearly specify if taxes and fees are included in the amounts being shown?

I have purchased tickets in the past...maybe 3 years ago. Watch the restrictions on their consolidator fares!

I have used airfare.com at times and if their price justifies the $10-20 booking fee (whatever it is) I book it. I've never had a problem.

Not to be confused with the "who's cut fares today" website www.air-fare.com

I have tried getting booking classes out of the airfare.com operators and they claim that they don't know what I'm talking about or that they don't have access to that info. Others have called the airlines themselves to inquire about mileage accrual for their fares.
But, as far as I know it is a legitimate site...but beware of mileage restrictions!

I purchased a ticket to Europe from them about 2 years ago. No problems whatsoever.

www.airfare.com is legit
I purchased a ticket to Europe from them about 2 years ago. No problems whatsoever.Does that include earning the correct amount of frequent flier miles and elite qualification miles?
I find they dominate low fares to Europe from Atlanta as well, and I was cautious as to their legitimacy due to their low airfares.
I basically saved $360 on LAX-GRU-LAX return and was able to use SWU's both ways.

I have used them about a dozen times over the past two years. Prices are great, service is not so great. I am living in Europe now, and they don't sell tickets originating from Europe, so have not used them for about 6 months, but still check their fares. They consistently have the best fares for United flights. Good luck.

Have there been any updates on getting booking classes out of airfare.com? There's a reasonable KL fare that I can see on the site but I want to make sure it's a mileage earning class for CO.

I am in the shady process of rescheduling a flight to Russia with airfare.com at the moment. I have been in this process for two and a half weeks. I had to reschedule a flight because of an error on the behalf of the Russian government regarding scheduling my invitation to Russia - they invited me ten days late. So I've had to adjust my flight to arrive ten days later.
Unfortunately, Airfare has been reluctant to help me. I have called over, and I am not exaggerating, THIRTY TIMES in the last two weeks and I kid you not - AT LEAST ninety percent of my calls have been in vain. Most of them involved the sales reps HANGING UP ON ME or putting me on HOLD until I lose my patience (people have known me to be immensely patient - I have sat and waited at the phone for forty minutes).
Additionally, the few calls that have rendered some degree of response from the reps have involved the same answer regarding my rescheduling process: "We're working on it, when we are done we will contact you, so don't worry about it." I don't know what to make of this. This shouldn't be something that takes ten weeks to do.
Furthermore, I've talked to at least fifteen different sales reps and none of them have English as their native language. By this I mean that they are usually very difficult to understand and their sentences are often not far from gibberish. This just makes things all the more irritating.
What I'm saying is that my experience with Airfare.com has been extremely frustrating and I do not intend on doing business with them at anytime during the future, nor would I recommend anyone else seek their services either.
What I'm not saying is that Airfare.com is a shady or "crooked" organization. I don't know much about them at all, and I've had difficulty finding information about them. Their rescheduling fee is outrageous, though. I'm having to pay $700 for them to reschedule my international tickets (two passengers) and then I have to pay the difference of the original and new tickets. I wouldn't be complaining about the $700 fee if their customer service and work effort were commendable, but thus far I find paying Airfare.com anything as laughable.
That's my unbiased, no-bull assessment of Airfare.com, compiled only through personal experience. I hope this helps.

OT, but you might have better luck getting Russia to redo your invitation dates! I was in Moscow last year and it was great! (I had our hotel we stayed at invite us.)

I've used Airfare.com to purchase several trips to Europe. If you book early enough in advance, it can be quite a deal. However, their tickets are heavily retricted (i.e. non endorsable, non-reroutable). The prices can be a bit misleading because they display the base price, then when you click "select" to view the information does it add the fees.
I was able to earn Mileagw Plus points and upgrade both ways (purchased). Yes, the customer service is not that great, I just calles for a simple question, and the guy who I talkes to would know what a clue was if he was born with one.
