I'm planning a short trip from SIN-BKK and back. I checked both Air Asia and Tiger. They have about the scedule and pricing. Any advice on which airline to fly?

Try checking out on the main line carriers too. Some are matching the LCC's. eg SQ, TG have low fares and full service too. Check their websites for specials.

But overall, Tiger Airways seem to be better than Air Asia.

Agreed - Tiger is the better carrier, IME. Also look at JetStar Asia/ValuAir.

IF the time works good, try Swiss Air (LX) too

I've taken Tiger Air SIN-BKK, HKT-BKK, and CNX-BKK.

BKK and HKT were great. Timing perfect, although buying the ticket was a little inconvienient.

The extra hour in the air for the flight to CNX was too long.

Thanks for the advice. All the major airlines have rather high fares for the dates of my travel (december just before Christmas) so I guess, I go for Tiger

I also want to use one of the LCCs for a one way BKK-SIN. Was leaning towards Jetstar Asia since they have assigned seating and 20kg luggage allowance although they are almost 50% more expensive at 2400THB vs. 1649THB on Air Asia or 1935 THB on Tiger. Main concern is their reliability, since I need to catch my SIN-FRA flight later that evening.

I flew both this past January. I found the two close to identical, with a slight edge in comfort to the newer A320s on Tiger over the older 737s on AirAsia (also just a general preference, comfort-wise, for non-Boeing narrow-bodies)

This coming trip (about a week and a from now) I am flying AirAsia BKK-SIN as the only Tiger flight available that day was a late eve.

I find the LCCs have more schedule problems.

If schedule is important, I recommend taking the first flight of the day. AirAsia used to run VERY lean and any problems translates into 3-5 hrs delays as they do not have the planes to cover. Have not flown many AirAsia this year so the experience may vary.

Tiger Airways have less delays except my SIN-DRW trip was delayed 2 hrs due to equipment failure. However, they have a nasty habit of changing/cancelling your flight/service (if you book way out destinations, far in advance!).

Have fun!

Have flown 'em both a number of times plus JetStar Asia, and I prefer JetStar thanks to the bag allowance and a more civilized boarding. But price also often factors in. I think you'll find newer planes on JetStar and Tiger (as they have links to legacy carriers as well). OTOH, it's Air Asia that drives everything, even if they seem like a mess sometimes.
