I searched the archives and didn't quite find the answer...

I am flying BOS->FRA->TLL for a VERY special occasion. When I land in TLL, I need to be impeccably dressed and looking like a million bucks :)

I'm bringing my nice suit with me in carryon. I have an 8 hour layover in FRA. I arrive at 5:30am or so and fly out at 1:40pm and have about a 1 hour flight to TLL.

So, while in FRA I want to relax, ideally not sitting on some bench in the airport. I also need to take a hot shower, (hopefully) touch up my clothes, get dressed, and get on the last leg of my flight.

Suggestions?

I know showers in FRA 6 euro, but they are common showers (eww). I can go to the Sheraton for a day room but it's $149 euro! And I can't get in there at 5:30am when I arrive.

What's my best option? Grab a hotel outside the airport for a day and relax, catch a movie, grab lunch and take a shower? Or go into town for a couple hours and come back in time to brave the other dudes in the communal showers before getting on my flight?

Is there an option C? I've never flown through FRA before... for those that have, if you had 8 hours to kill, and you need to take a shower and touch up any wrinkles in your clothes, what would you do????

If I have to drop 149 euro on the Sheraton I will, but I don't think I can get in there until 8am, and its a lot of cash for a few hours of TV and a shower!

You could check out the upscale spa town of Bad Homburg some 25 minutes out of central Frankfurt. Don't know if you should add or distract a few from and to the airport. I think myself or others have mentioned the various spa names ( I think three spa operators ) on some earlier thread, so maybe you could arrange an airport pickup and drop service with them.

If you are flying during the weekend, check out the holiday Inn properties in Frankfurt, weekend rates are around 30 euro per night. Just book a prepaid room and you'll be fine even if you only check in early morning and stay a few hours.

Consider the nearby Gravenbruch Kempinski. It's a nice place, much better than the airport Sheraton. The rate these days for an economy room there is about 115 euros. They'll transfer you between the airport and hotel (about 20 min. each way), and you probably can also arrange a check-in that coincides with your arrival.
