I wonder if anybody can help on this.

We are travelling Ex- LTN tomorrow on Easy Jet.
The checked baggeage allowance is 20 KG per pax. We are a family of four travelling and I would prefer to pool our allowances to only take two cases of say 25 KG.

Is this allowable ?

I telephoned Easy Jet CS and the agent didnt know ! She said it was down to the airport, which I find very hard to believe.

Many thanks in advance.

If it's the same as I have read with other airports, the check-in agents are not EasyJet employees necessarily but employees of the airport. I suspect that each passenger's baggage is to be weighed individually, going by the book, so Ryanair has been recently known for insisting on this. So with EasyJet, it will likely depend if the agents, possibly not employees of EasyJet, are going by the book or not.

I think they can (and do, occasionally) charge for any bag weighing more than 20 kg.

Easyjet can be pretty pedantic about overweight luggage. What is good, is that they have been allowing handluggage of any weight (within reason) -- it must fit in the holder (sizewise) that they have in front of the check-in counter, and you must be able to lift it by yourself to the overhead bin on the plane.

I can't recall if they weighed my cousin's & my luggage together when we flew. All I can remember is that it wasn't until AFTER the bags had gone down the chute that they told us we were overweight & had to cough up £25 on the spot for overweight bags.

Then, when we got to Edinburgh, it turned out my bag didn't even make the flight.    Apparently, baggage at Luton has a way of going walkabout. (So consider that a fair warning) And no, we didn't get a refund on the overweight baggage. It did turn up later & was delivered to our hostel. Other than that, we had no complaint about EasyJet & overall we were impressed with the service.

That being said, they did have the "If you can lift it, you can bring it" carryon policy. That's worth looking into.

I was specifically told, when boarding at LIS two weeks ago, that EasyJet will no longer accept "pooled" bagage allowances for any flights booked after September 1, 2006. I was told that I could "share" my allowance with my SO only because I had booked my flight in June. I didn't see this rule change posted anywhere on the EasyJet site, and I did check it quite frequently prior to my departure from LIS.

For what it's worth, there's nothing Easy about EasyJet.

I've been bumped from Heathrow to Luton on take off and then bumped from an arrival of Gatwick to Stansted twice !! Both times I had to cough up about 45 pounds on the spot inorder to land at my desired airport. My tickets even had the proper info but they still bumped me around.

I find this hard to believe

Ah..

I was about to chime in that you can pool baggage as long as the travellers are on the same booking.

I travelled once from Luton with a band going to BCN. They were about 10kgs over their allowance, I only had an overnight bag. But as we'd booked our flights seperately the woman wouldn't allow me to take one of their bags... even though I'd helped pack it. The reason was because we had different bookings. Was a while ago though....

I should also add that, although EasyJet's customer relations dept. leaves a lot to be desired, I had absolutely no problems on my flight (aside from a mysterious farter in the row ahead of me  :D )

One comment, though: at LIS, EasyJet boarded by group, and I expected those in the coveted first group to grab all of the "good seats" at the front of the plane. FAs did, however, herd this group into the back of the plane, leaving most of the best (aisle) seats up front for the latecomers. Last come, best served?

EasyJet doesn't use Heathrow at all.
