Can anyone suggest a Verona hotel that they have stayed in and like? We are going there next April (belated 25th anniv. trip). Accademia was fully booked, so could not get that hotel (well liked on TripAdvisor).

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

What's your price range?

2.5 years ago I stayed at Residenza Verona House for eight nights. The front desk people were a little cool, but the apartment was wonderful and in a great location, right next door to the Castelvecchio. Piazza Bra is a five minute walk.

We stayed at the Hotel Victoria (http://www.hotelvictoria.it/) and were very happy with it. (It was expensive but given it was opera season and its proximity to the arena, that was to be expected.) The room was very comfortable and had a lovely big bathroom. The concierge desk gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants. The position is super for exploring the town and they have (limited) parking in their basement.

It was recommended to me by another FT'er. :)

If you're going in the first week of April - forget it. Vinitaly (the wine show) sucks up every room in Verona and the surrounding area. If you're going later, the Touring is comfortable and well priced. If you want to drop some big money try the Gabbia D'oro, the Due Torre or best of all, Villa del Quar(just outside of town).
