It looks like my stepson may be joining us in Tokyo on our November trip. Does anyone have suggestions for a good (not too expensive) 2-bedroom suite in Tokyo? Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akasaka, or Ueno would be nice, since we haven't stayed there on any of our previous trips, but the area doesn't particularly matter, as long as it's near a subway or the JR.
Thanks.

Not too expensive? Can you give us a ballpark figure?

Under $300/night? If it's more than that, it's cheaper just to get two rooms (not to mention more private).

I think you might be better off with the 2 room scenario, unless a "mistake rate" appears. Large rooms at low(ish) prices is an oxymoron in Japan IMHO.

Don't think that's in the cards. Few Tokyo hotels have suites like that and the ones that do tend to be at the high end where a suite is way more than $300.
You could consider a serviced apartment if your stay is going to be for a week or more. Oakwood in Azabu Juban is one good choice, but even there if they have it, a 2br could be more than Y33,000/night. However you do get a washer/dryer and the most compact kitchen you'll ever see!

This time around, we'll only be in Tokyo five nights.
We are staying in a serviced apartment in Seoul (they have nightly rentals) just before coming to Tokyo, so it will be nice to see how that plays out.
Oh well, time to search for standard hotels. The Takawana Prince isn't as cheap as usual. Plus, we've already stayed there once...

They don't have western-style suites, just Japanese-style, but for an inexpensive western twin right across the hall from an inexpensive western single in a great location in Asakusa, you might try:

It is a bit "rustic," but I enjoy staying there.

I’d say the Japanese suites at the Takanawa Prince. If they’re available. You can often get them through utell.com for under 35,000yen.
