Does anybody know if the new Premium Terminal (For F and C class) is already open at DOH airport? If I remember correctly it was announced that it would open by Sep 1st.

Can anybody confirm it´s in use??

Anyone out there who knows the answer ?
I am looking at another HKG trip with QR but would not want to book with them if they still use the old terminal for J&F pax...

I have spoken to QR in DOH via the phone and it is still under construction. I was not told how long it would take them to finish the new terminal. Most likely not until the end of September. Not very good news for QR premium travellers.....

I'm thinking of flying QR in mid October. The absence of the new terminal (and the fact that they don't offer F to S Africa) could sway me to EK.

It must have been a mis-information from the QR phone agent. According to the QR station manager in TXL, the new premium terminal with F and C lounges should be in operation since last weekend. He has spoken to a customer who had just returned from DOH and who has confirmed it was open to passengers.

If I get more information (i.e. photos), I will post them asap.

Yes, can't wait to see pics of the terminal or any other first-hand experience would be appreciated. However, would be really bad news if the opening is delayed... Most likely I have flight with QR coming up to BKK in mid November; so I'm really looking forward to it. :cool:

If I am not mistaken it was due to open on 04.09. in which case it wouldn't be a surprise if it wasn't open on either 01.09. or 02.09.

I was just in DOH. It's not open yet and didn't look real close to being ready. By the looks of things and the push to get everything ready for Asia Games on December 1, I'd say it will open sometime in mid-November. It looks like they are doing interior fittings and also the access road. If it weren't for Ramadan, I'd say it could be done in a month, but 7-8 weeks seems more realistic.

I'm due to pass through mid November (in QR J)and was rather hoping not to have to go through the scrum of the main terminal - here's hoping!

I am currently at the Qatar BC lounge in Doha and asked the staff about the terminal - they said it may be another 4 weeks which fits with what I saw on the way past (no furniture, fittings, etc and hoarding along the access road).

Doha, the airport and the city are a mess currently. It will take 2 hours to book a cab! Thus forced to use hotel limo for meetings costing 3 x as much(but still cheap by Aussie standards). The airport was a mess and the sooner new terminal opens the better. I have a funny feeling Doha is going to be in an Athens situation for the Asian Games.

Just a little update:
Have been in DOH on Oct 4th and passed by the new Premium Terminal. The work on the building itself and on the outside (parking facilities etc.) is done. I could see people moving furniture into the building, so the opening should only be a matter of days.

The supervisor at F lounge confirmed that the lounge staff is currently trained for the new facilities and this is also a good sign.

I called QR reservations in Doha and asked if indeed the new terminal has opened. The agent said it should have opened today but was unsure if it really did. So, has it opened?

It was not open on the 12th.

I am flying thru Doha tonight (15th), will post an update once i know.

Was just through last night and actually got a tour of the new terminal earlier in the day - it will open they said with a soft opening next week and will be fully operational in time for the Asian games.

The furniture has been moved in but was covered with plastic and it looked like they were working more on finishing touches. Quite a spectacular project that looks like it will further elevate QR's service standards.

Transited thru doha yesterday 17/10 and the premium terminal looked almost finished but still remained un-opened

Any news about the opening? Will be in DOH in one week connecting to BKK with QR in C... Hopefully the terminal is in operation then as the lcurrent business class lounge is quite crammed when there are lot's of passengers.

I was in DOH yesterday and the answer was "maybe in about a week." But I have no idea if that was reliable information. They definitely want it ready for the Asia Games on December 1 and clearly are trying to open it before then.

I hear this "maybe in about a week"-thing everytime I was in DOH within the last few months (I have been there 8 times in 10 weeks). I am really tired of getting the same answer over and over again.

It was scheduled to be opened by Sep.1st. They had to postpone it once, ok.
But the re-scheduling of the opening doesn´t make flying through DOH any better. QR is a great airline, the current situation for premium pax at the airport is a pita.

It´s not open yet, but I was promised it would be ready by friday, 3rd of November. As I come back to DOH on the 4th, I might be able to post some news by then.

It looked like there were people in it yesterday but the staff said the official opening was today, November 5.

BTW: the lounge here is quite full of people. Time that the dedicated premium terminal goes into operation...

In the press release (http://qatarairways.com/index.php?id=0,2848,0,0,1,0&tab=5) posted by UA Fan above, QR's CEO is quoted as saying "Qatar Airways’ brand new Premium Terminal – the world’s only stand-alone terminal dedicated to First and Business Class passengers – is set to open at Doha International Airport by the end of the month".

Looks like we shouldn't hold our breaths just yet.

OK, some insider info from us;

The new J & F terminal is actually the Asian Games Terminal. This building was created because the current terminal cannot handle the Asian Games, Doha 2006. Thus they created this building. The mentioned USD 90 million pricetag is BS! :rolleyes: The Asian Games will be from Dec 1-15.

The new airport, currently under contruction 3km from the old one, will only open in 2008-2009, so until then they will use the Asian Games terminal for J & F pax, as the current terminal doesnt offer much for premium pax.
So expect service for us Flyertalkers at this facility from the end of the year.

The building is finished and ready for action ^

I was IN the building on the 22nd Oct on my way to HKG, took some pics.
It should be a Fabulous place to relax, Lots of Marble and glas, leather am chairs.
Big central stairway with esculators in the middle leading upstairs to First and biz lounges.

I just made QR Silver and was wondering if the new wonder terminal will be available for elite Q people flying on economy as well?
Anyone has that information yet? As Gold and Silver have access to the lounges I hope that would mean the new terminal as well? Alternatively it is only available for people flying in C or F?
