I am planning to visit Toronto in October for some business. I will have some meetings at the Sheraton but I think that hotel is a little bit to expensive. Have anyone a suggestion for a cheaper but still good hotel in that part of town?

Thanks in advance

You're not going to find a *really* cheap place near the Sheraton center because it's in the heart of downtown Toronto. But I stayed at this place in April and it wasn't bad. It's about 1 block from the Sheraton ctr.

Strathcona Hotel
60 York Street
Toronto, ON M5J 1S8

Local: (416)363-3321

If you want cheaper, you'll probably have to stay further north and take the subway down.

There are also some companies that rent out furnished apartments as hotels. Last year, I lived at 140 Simcoe, which is right accross the street from the Sheraton. There are units that are owned and furnished, and the owner contracts with a leasing company to use it as a hotel. Other apartments are also contracted with the companies. Always saw people with suitcases in the lobby!

I asked my doorman once and I think they run about $150. Do a google search.

A surprisingly nice, cheap hotel in that area is the Hotel Victoria at 56 Yonge. If you check on Expedia, you can often get a room for less than C$100/night.

Great location, but with no parking at all, if that's important to you.

Bid $70 for a 4* hotel in the Downtown Toronto zone on Priceline. Odds are very good you will get the Sheraton. The nearby Hilton is also known to accept sub-$70 bids.

The Marriott Eaton Centre is in the Priceline mix at the 3* level, but bidding at that level also puts you at risk of getting some real dogs (Courtyard on Yonge).
