Hi-

I had 15k HP miles which are now US miles. As a UA elite, it makes more sense to use all my US flying to add EQM and miles to my UA program.

So what can I do with these miles? Any 15k awards on US (for short hops)? Can I use 15k miles to sponsor an upgrade? Is it possible to use my UA number on a US flight and still use US miles to upgrade?

Thanks

Charlie

You can use miles to upgrade a US/US-coded flight, but not a UA/UA-coded flight.

Thanks for the link!

Has anyone successfully upgraded a US flight with US miles when there was not a US DM number on the itinerary?

Yes, I have upgraded someone with miles who was not a DM member and not under my PNR

If they give you any trouble, just hang up and call back OR tell them to put in your DM #, upgrade you, then hang up and give them your UA #.

It worked for me too without issue.

This is cool. Anytime I've tried this, they give me a hard time about having to have my USAir # in the PNR....

Thanks.

Another option would be to apply for the Juniper US Airways card. You get 10K miles with your first purchase, and there's no annual fee for a year. This will give you 25K, good for a domestic flight.

A one-way upgrade to the West Coast wouldn't be such a waste of miles.
