I am booking a ticket for PHX-PHL RT in September... I was trying different flights and found one for about $300 RT (but a connection coming back, nonstop was $400) so I decide to book it and want to use a HP coupon that gives you $25 of XX $50 of XX, etc.. I would receive $75 off my.

So I first go to the former America West counter.. they say, it is a US East flight, so they can not do anything. Go to US east.. wait a bit (since they are getting ready for red-eyes). Get to the counter and the supervisor first "Thank you for your business, being a Chairman's Preferred, we really appreciate your loyalty". He looks at the ticket and states that "I am going to make it work for you, I do not want to do anything to anger our best customers" and just basically makes it happens.

He then states he is glad he can do it now before going to the new system. I then ask about SHARES not being good, and he is pretty dipolomatic.. states SHARES is a good system for doing the basic stuff and doing it quickly, but with SABRE they have a lot more flexibility to making the customer happy and getting it fixed. They are concerned that some of that may go away in SHARES.

I was really impressed by their honesty, their positive nature and the can-do attitude. BRAVO US-EAST in PHX... keep up the great work.

I'm happy to hear that you received such great service. The determination of supervisors to make their best customers happy represents the US Airways (East) we know. It seems that a well trained agent is able to make things happen in SABRE.

This past weekend I was travelling on an East ticketed, West metal itinerary and the ticket agent at YYZ had difficulty pulling up my e-ticket in SHARES. Eventually she was able to get it to work after playing around with it and consulting with two coworkers. The best was when she shouted "This system is crap, mon!" There's never a dull moment when flying from YYZ. :)

I guess us East passengers are going to have to get used to issues involving the new "crap" system :(

The US (East) ground people in PHX were great and continue to stand out in the terminal 4.
Thanks to all US (East) people in PHX. I wish US (West) learned from you.

I agree.. I was very surprised on how he was pretty candid that SHARES is easy, but he said "you can do almost anything you want in SABRE to get something done". I guess SHARES has more controls, but I am glad they are able to take care of us.

Anyway, I was impressed as I do not fly EAST as much... (anymore.. I use to fly EAST all the time in 1997-1999)... so it is nice to see such great attitudes. Hopefully, SHARES will get some new functionality (yeah I know..) but I can dream!!

Sabre will be dearly missed among the thousands of employees at USAirways East.

One quick tidbit --- exchanging a ticket in Shares can be a nightmare and require lots of entries... I haven't used Shares in such a long time but T-ET@#*$@#*$ and a bunch of garble comes to mind.

In Sabre it's simply W‡EXCH and you fill out a mask using the tab key.
