My hometown airport is in the news. And not for good reasons...

Most news outlets reporting that "several" notes were found onboard.

According to posts from BoeingBoy on US Aviation, flight was US 3441 enroute to IAH from PHL. It was an E170. The bomb squad has met the flight at TRI. "Threatening notes" were found on board leading to suspicions of a bomb onboard.

Let's hope nothing is found.

So far, nothing else available from the online media outlets. I assume BB looked up the info that he can access. If anyone has access to cable, please update here until online can catch up.

Just sitting in front of the computer with cable news on as "background noise" after the NTSB briefing on the ComAir crash when the story broke.....

Odds are very good (99.999% certain) that no explosive device will be found. If someone really wanted to blow up an airliner, the last thing they would do is leave notes saying that.

"Notes" Terrorism works yet again, thanks to an assist from the Terrorism Support Agency.

Fox News just reported NO BOMB found.

Slightly OT, but this whole thing just makes me wonder what a nightmare it would be if I happened to be on such a flight sometime during an MR.

I can only imagine being questioned after an incident like this and trying to explain to the FBI that I am just flying around for no reason (other than earning miles & segments).

I imagine that might lead to quite a lengthy Q&A session.

In fact, I am constantly shocked at how many US Airways employees are completely unaware of the fact there are actually people out there who fly around on their airline for no reason other than the fact that they enjoy flying (especially in FC) and racking up the miles & segments.

No, it wouldn't. (at least not for me)

"I am accumulating frequent flyer miles. I had no part in this note issue. Am I free to leave? If not, am I under arrest?"

A few questions? Sure, no problem. Interrogation? They can go pound sand.

Nothing was found on board (as stated by other posters.)
The passengers were held on the plane for one hour, then allowed to deplane and wait in the terminal.
Each person was interviewed individually by the FBI.
The plane was searched for four hours and it will depart within the hour (6-7 pm.)

Wow - TRI made the news.

Too bad it was an RJ - if an A319 landed there it would have been even more the talk of the town. :p

Long before 9/11 you used to have a phenomenal amount of mainline service from Piedmont. Overnighting alone in TRI were one 727, 3 737s, and YS-11s. There were, at one time, more than a dozen non-stop markets served from TRI -- most of which were on full size Boeings. TRI was, for decades, a critical station in the PI system.

Pardon me while I reminisce
