I'm sure there's an easy answer to this question, I just don't can't find it! My wife and I have enough miles for a trip we want to take, but I don't have enough miles for both tickets and she doesn't have enough for one. Combined, we have enough miles for the two of us. Will US let us combine them to get the 2 tickets? If so, what do I need to do?

I'm going to jump in and say "no".

However, if you can post the number of miles you each have, and where you are going, I'm sure the community here can offer some great suggestions!

For instance, look at getting the USAir cc in her name for the bonus miles.

For what it's worth - I previously asked if I could combine my dad's DM miles with mine to purchase 1 ticket and was told no.

You can buy an award for another person if you have enough miles, but, much as I would like to say otherwise, you can't combine accounts. Miles are earned according to the person travelling; you can't give them to someone else. It's a pretty firm rule.

Warbo is right on the money (again!). I remember years ago when AA and US were partners, you were able to combine miles from your AA account into your US account for awards.. that was nice.

I agree with the other suggestions, open up a Credit card if you can. 15,000 miles are nice.

Not to beat this into the ground, but if you get the Juniper US Dividend Miles World Mastercard, you'll get 15,000 miles. Get the Bank of America Visa Signature and get an additional 25,000. Both of these #s are after first purchase, and the BofA one will ding you for a fee immediately after signup (Juniper waives for a year or two). But for 25,000 miles, the $90 fee is probably worth it. Plus you get some other bennies like preferred boarding, annual $99 companion certificate, annual club access, discount on club membership, etc.

Also, many on this board have reported luck in getting multiple cards per person, or per family. So you could get some exponentially-greater number of miles than the 40,000 you're certain to receive. If you and your wife separately applied for and received these cards, each of you would have 40k miles - enough for a domestic r/t and awfully close to an international r/t in coach.

Also, if you spend >$25k, 10k of the miles convert from regular miles to EQM miles (counts towards elite status). Maybe not an issue, but a nice benefit if you're going to spend that much. Between the two cards and one transcon per year, you'd have guaranteed elite status. Of course, that's a scarry amount of CC spending... ;)

Good luck and enjoy your trip - wherever you're going!
