My wife will be taking the 155PM LAS-PHL this week and will have to get to the airport about 4 hours early due to our son dropping her off before going to UNLV. I thought of her using the US Club with the $25 special. I know its not the best but at least it is someplace to hang out at. I understand that it is before security so she has to leave the club with enough time to get through security. What about checking luggage? Is the earliest she can check her bags 3 hours before the flight? Can she check in and drop bags at the club?

The $25 may then be worth it but the LAS club is my least favorite in the country. LAS flyers hsould indicate re: security but no she can't check bags at the club. She can however, check bags up to 4 hours in advance.

While the club there is no A West in PHL it is not terrible. It is MUCH better than sitting by the gates, especially with the renovations going on and the slots. I spent about 6 hours there in July and took advantage of the free internet, and the staff was very nice. You can easily go through $25 in the terminal and get less with a lot of time to kill.
As for Security, it is on the "wrong side" aka the terminal side not the gate side. I was taking a redeye and the line was short so it wasn't a big deal but depending on time this could be a problem. Does anyone know if the club staff can give you some sort of priority in the security line if you've been there for a few hours? It seems silly to have to leave the club 30 minutes early to catch your flight because of a long security line when you were at the airport 4 hours early.

I remember reading on these boards or on a.net that US was considering a new club space in LAS past security - any truth to this rumor?

Could be....Not sure what all the construction is all about, but it would make sense to have a club behind security in the gate area at LAS.

The new US Club will be located inside security on the right hand side where Cheers used to be. I believe the space is presently a Chili's Too. The old US Club is being converted to a USO Club. IIRC the airport authority is financing most of the cost of the move as it is mutually beneficial. There was an entire thread on this issue here a few months ago. One benefit of the LAS US Club is the AWESOME ^ mini-bagels!. If it is after breakfast, just ask the bartender to grab you one or two - they are darn good for domestic lounge food and destroy the PIT bagels! I have never had the LGA bagels, but imagine they are on par with LAS :)

This will be the first new club built post merger. I wonder what kind of theme it will have.
Will it have the board room feel of east ^ or the funky texmex El Torito restaurant theme of the former HP clubs :( ?

I would hope the former. I was rather unimpressed with the decor and layout of the PHX and LAS clubs. There are several very nice smaller clubs on the east side (BWI for example). The old MCO club was also quite nice - too bad it got hurricaned and then Crystal City'ed.
I'll restate that if they continue to move to the East model, they'll lose me. I enjoyed the friendly& helpful HP employees at the bar and no extra charge drinks and WiFi. I moved away from the eastern USA 20 yrs ago for a reason........

Are you saying this regarding food/beverage or about the decor?
Note all US clubs are getting free wifi now.

Posting this from the LAS free Wi-Fi network. Works very well from my experience around the airport.

We LAS locals were told months ago that the new LAS club would be opened in Aug. 06, beyond the security gates, as noted elsewhere in this chain. That didn't happen, so we understand that construction dictates the change. In the meantime, the staffers are sincere and try very hard -- ladies, note: hairspray and lotion in the ladies room! Note the new toaster! If you get good service here (and you should), do try to let corporate know -- I've heard a vague rumor that this club is "underutilized" and is on the short list for extinction! Those of us who originate in LAS and have no fascination with slot machines depend on this club! ;) When will the new club be open?

The club might be underutilized because it's a cave and it's outside security.
With LAS as a hub, I'm sure a spacious new club inside security would do quite well.
