I'd like to redeem miles for the long Thanksgiving weekend in business class for my wife and I to LGW. Would the CP customer service be able to check and subsequently book two J tickets on a phx-lgw non US airline? I wasn't able to do it via their website, so I'm curious as to what others think.
Thanks

Yes you have to call the CP desk. Virgin Atlantic out of LAS is an option. Of course LH through FRA is also an option.

Thanks for the info. I indeed booked a phx-dfw-fra-lhr outbound with a lhr-fra-phl-phx return on LH. The LH flights are in business both over the pond and intra-europe, with confirmed F on the domestic US legs. Does anyone have any opinions about LH's business compared to US's Envoy?

US Air Envoy is easy to upgrade to, not too clean, and has friendly staff (I usually fly AMS-PHL).
Lufthansa: no experience, although I would love to try FlyNet:
"Since May 2004, the Internet offer FlyNet is available, which can be used with your own laptop without cables via W-LAN." You can even Skype onboard!

Flew PHL-FRA in LH Business class last fall and it was a better overall experience than Envoy. The seats recline to an almost-flat position and the food was wonderful (comparatively - this is still airline food, after all).

Ian, find out your Lufthansa PNR # and enter it with your last name at checkmytrip.com. This will allow you to see the seatmap for your LH flights and you can determine if you are in new Biz or old Biz seats. (by cross-checking with seatguru).
If new biz, you have superlative seating, equal IFE, far better food/beverage than US envoy on an A330.
If old biz, you have equal seats, poorer IFE, far better food/beverage than US envoy on an A330.

New biz is great on LH. I did it MUC-CLT and it was very nice service and seating.
