Hi there, I would need some advice regarding a nightly stopover in Singapore later on next month, I will arrive at 1am by air from NRT and will have to catch a flight that leaves at 9am in the morning to BKK (guess I will have to be back at the airport around 7am).

Now, is there anything to do in the city around those hours (might be to tired for clubbing/bars after flying in from the US) or should I just try to get some rest at the airport ?

I would prefer not to extend my layover because I will actually get back to Singapore just about a week later and will stay for about four days.

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys might have

Some food stalls are open. Get some crabs and beer in the warm night air.

Not sure what hours the night safari at the zoo runs. That may be an option.

The airport itself has plenty to do, although most shuts down around 2-3am. Plenty of tvs and free computer terminals, plus lounge chairs, bar, etc. If you have access to SQ lounge, that is open 24/7.

Six hours is also pretty much the right length of time to hit the Transit Hotel (http://www.airport-hotel.com.sg/) airside in SIN if you're in the mood for some zzz's without the hassle of heading out of the airport, but want a little privacy whilst sleeping as well. Just be sure to book well in advance if you're going to stay, the transit hotel usually is booked out.

Well thanks all of you for the advises so far, right now it is leaning towards a nightly snack downtown with a long walk, I have also been considering the airport hotel but they actually hava a warning on their website right now regarding repairs on the runways both day and night so I do not know how much sleep I would actually be able to get :p

I think that is the best solution. Am sure that some of the "locals" will post details as to precisely where you should head.

Note that you'll probably have to take a taxi from the airport (MRT shuts down before midnight if i'm not mistaken, but should start up in time to get you back to Changi OK).

You might also be better going for a walk and perhaps a beer first then hitting the (recommended) food stalls later.

Enjoy it!
