I have a long business trip to Tokyo in October and will have a 5 day stretch between meetings at some point. I've traveled much in japan and am thinking of spending a few days in another country - preferring one i haven't been to such as indonesia or the phillipines. does anyone know affordable airfares/airlines or trip ideas for 4 or 5 days from Tokyo?

With five days you could visit anywhere really... Take a look at travelocity dream maps... or H.I.S. and look out for any cheap deals on offer that interest you.

For somewhere that is very easy to get to and usually very cheap from Japan - but can be relatively difficult and expensive from elsewhere - both Guam and Saipan are worth considering.

you will see that in October flights can be picked up for around $350 return - often you can get a hotel thrown in for around the same money from HIS or JTB travel agencies - alternatively both island have a Hyatt - which off the top of my head accept Hyatt Certificates at $99 inclusive.

Otherwise reasonably priced economy tickets can be picked up to most parts of Asia from Japan - but cheap business tickets are much harder to come by.
