Any views on the Park Hotel? From other reviews it seems to offer small but nice rooms at an attractive price (less than half the price of the Hyatt Kyoto we've reserved for later in the trip).

This thread is specifically about this hotel: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=364642
It gets another ^ in post 13 in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=544997
Another FTer called FrankFlyer decided to stay there, but never reported back.
A lot of FTers got $250 Expedia vouchers for use on Tokyo Hotels - this seemed to be a popular choice.

Thanks.
I gave up searching after too many hits on the Park Hyatt and parks near hotels.
Stay tiny or upgrade to a bigger room (~USD 250) or find another hotel in the bigger room price range?

Lured by the promise of a nice view and un-offensive decor - I made a booking here once.
I ended up cancelling and getting a room at the Takanawa Prince instead (best prices seem to be through www.utell.com).
I stayed in what is called a "moderate queen corner room" with the Tokyo Tower view and got a great view of the city, lots of space, and room decor not that different to what I've seen in the photos of the Shiodome Park Hotel. (http://www.parkhoteltokyo.com/guestrooms/index.html) .
I've just discussed it in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=587330
Photos and floor plans here: http://www.princehotels.co.jp/takanawa/index.html (doesn't show the Moderate Queen Corner room I liked best though)

Erm... it was something like 23,000yen for a room at the Park versus 15,000yen (including fees and taxes) at the Takanawa Prince.
It's also worth looking at the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay too, I've stayed there for under 20,000 yen using Priceline - but the 'real' rates aren't always that much more. Views are pretty good (if you ask nicely :) ) and rooms are twice as big as the ones at the Park Hotel.

Takanawa and Park are exactly the same price on Expedia. Park looks a bit nicer with nicer views, but is 21sm v Takanawa 25sm.

Have you looked for dates using Utell? Expedia used to get the Takanawa and New Takanawa hotels confused. (If Expedia is showing you room descriptions featuring balconies and jet tubs - it's the New Takanawa) Also, no deposit required, or booking, or cancellation fees on the Utell site.

Aha. 29sqm, queen, 14,500 or 36sqm king 18,000.
Utell does not list a 25sqm room.
The Intercontinental is 22-24,000 + 15%, nice sized rooms

Don't forget to add 15.5% tax/service charges to the Utell prices too.
