So I was booking a flight today. On the website, the fare shows up (with taxes and fees) as $259. I had an America West cash voucher I wanted to use to pay for part of the ticket.

First I called US silver line; they were helpful, and saw the fare I wanted, but because of the voucher, they recommended calling the America West number.

I did this, and the price I was quoted was $249! Not a huge difference, but a nice ten dollar savings. When I went to the airport to redeem the voucher, I mentioned this to the gate agent, and she said that she hears this all the time, and actually recommends people call the HP line before booking their flight to see if there is a price break!

I know it was occurring before the websites were merged. It appears to still be happening.

Is the $10 an manual booking fee that you get hit with on one side of the house and not the other?

This will continue to happen until they have one res system with one set of inventory buckets. For now, there are two sets of buckets and a cheaper bucket may sell out in HP's system before it does in US's and vice versa. They eventually sync but it's not real time.

I just posted a thread like this a couple of days ago. But yes. You need to check on both sides of the house as they are pulling from 2 diffent pools of fares.

They still show as separate airlines (and sometimes different fares) on other booking sites, like Orbitz, too...

So, who's prices show up on the website? HPs? Depends on the metal?

If I see a price for US metal on the website, should I double check by calling HP and vice versa?
