I booked PHX-SAN online the other day and noticed my return flight number on 8/27 looked odd – #1254. The seat map for the A320 looked odd too. When I called the SP line, the person I spoke to had to ask a supervisor about it. Turns out it’s a US-East A320 and operated flight. With a little research, I noticed this flight, along with the outbound PHX-SAN #1195 started appearing in the schedule on 8/22.
Historically, this has been a HP operated market. Has US started including US-E metal on traditional HP-only routes or is this just an anomaly?

They're starting to "mix" up the flying - East planes/crews doing some of what were HP flights and vice versa. Can't tell you how much or which routes since none of it is with the 737 - they don't let us get that far from home. Afraid we'll get lost, I guess......

This is all part of the merger synergies - better aircraft utilization. I assume this is an A320 that was sitting around Phoenix for a few hours and instead, they're going to send it to San Diego, flip it around and send it back to Phoenix.

I'm certainly not complaining! The extra row in F only increases my chances as a lowly SP for an upgrade :)

In fact, according to the "printed" PDF timetable, it's an A321 to San Diego!

Oh no. I was hoping the fencing would last a little longer. I didn't want to deal with US-East.

Supposedly you'll be able to tell by flight numbers. I don't remember much in the way of detail, but they're eliminating duplicate flight numbers. As I recall (but can't guarantee), HP flights will be numbered 1-700, East will be above that, then each express carrier will have a block of numbers. I think it's supposed to be in effect this month or next.

Ditto but avoiding US_West. To each their own. Better the devil you know, I guess. :D
