I visit beautiful Singapore several times a year and have the impression that the dentist there are well trained and inexpensive compared with USA.
Does anyone have experience with dentists in general and especially specialists in tooth implants and if so could you provide a name, perhaps a location, and/or a phone number or email address.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not really sure what this has to do with the "latest frequent flyer program buzz"

I'll go ahead and move it to the Singapore board.

Inexpensive? Hmm, what would be your definition of "inexpensive"??

Quick and dirty: http://www.qandmdental.com.sg
I've used them for routine things like scaling and a filling.

But by far the best dentist I've had is when I had surgery for removal of an abcessed wisdom tooth. Done by Dr. Myra Elliot (resident at Mount Elizabeth Hospital (http://www.mountelizabeth.com.sg/) and visiting dentist at Raffles Hospital (http://www.raffleshospital.com/raffles_denticare.html)). If I had to recommend anyone, it'd be her.

Thanks for responding but I did not understand. I do not belive i mentioned inexpensive but of course I am not looking for "the most expensive" clinic or individual.

Hope you have someone to suggest.

Thanks again

Well, you did say inexpensive compared to the US. So I was wondering what would be the price range you are talking about. Maybe giving me an idea of how much the procedure would cost in US would be a good start. I do not want to recommend you a dentist, only for you to find out that you could have done the procedure more cheaply in the US.

Thanks very much SQ319. :)

As you may have heard, dental procedures in the USA are rather expensive. For example, a tooth implant, which is what I am considering, was recently quoted to me at ~$US5000/implant + follow-up visits and + having another dentist actually attach an artificial tooth to the implant (that quote ran almost an additional $US1000.

Another way perhaps to get at the issue of relative cost, is for me to ask the following question: Although I have read about a number of US folks apparently visiting Bangkok for extensive dental work, do you know of many Singapore citizens who have or would travel (1) to BKK or (2) to the USA to have dental work done?

Perhaps this would offer some insight into the issue of costs although I recognize that any such informtion would not be definitive as the data would be componded by a number of other factors.

At any rate, any information you can provide will be appreciated. If you have an individual or clinic that you could identify that is well respected in this area, please let me know how I can get in touch and perhaps arrange for a consultation.

Thanks in advance to all---

Wow, okay. Didn't realise that a dental procedure could actually cost that much.

Anyway, I go to Dr. J. K. Leong at J.K. Leong (Dental Centre) (http://www.jkleongdentalcentre.com/index.html) at Parklane Shopping Centre which is about 10min walk from Dohby Ghaut MRT. He is very personable and will try to relax you and make you feel at ease (especially if you are the scared-of-drills-and-dentists kind). He certainly not the cheapest, but he is one of the best in the region. Some of his patients travel from the region, and he is also quite popular among the Japanese expat community in Singapore. His partner Dr. Hum is also not bad.

Good luck! :)

It should not cost so much, but it least over here, it is "expensive".
Thanks so much for sharing the name of your dentist with me...I will try to arrange for an appointment using the email address you were kind enough to provide. I will post here after I see him in November.

Thanks again,
