Air Canada and Jazz have been recognized for the improvement achieved in their performance between 2001-2005. Using extensive operational and financial measures, the prestigious U.S. magazine, Aviation Week & Space Technology in its 10th annual study ranked ACE Aviation as #1 among most-improved companies in the world with revenues greater than $4 billion US, and the top performing airline group in North America, second only to Southwest Airlines in the same category. The magazine lauded Air Canada for staying on track with its restructuring plan and growing traffic and revenues in part due to innovative pricing programs, while noting that the fuel cost environment remains a concern. Top three performing airlines in the category were Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Southwest Airlines.

According to Airways Magazine July Edition in an article by Alex Kuhlman, Southwest have the best hedging program with the following stats :

Remainder of 2006 : 70% of their fuel consumption hedged at 36$/barrel
60% of their 2007 consumption at 39$/barrel
35% of their 2008 consumption at 38$/barrel
30% of their 2009 consumption at 39$/barrel

Did anyone have the AC stats on their hedging program? (I know some might say it's a highly competitive situation and AC doesn't publicize it, but one must wonder if it's not a lame excuse to say that they don't have much of an hedging program..)
