... on the website at least. Anyone have any luck booking these? I did notice that the fares listed were "each way" and not the "all-in" number, but I'll take what I can get.

Did you notice that the booking page goes to "Calendar Shopping" which is similar to the old Search by Price feature on the old usairways.com? Perhaps they are bringing that back??

1. I used to be signed up for e-savers by e-mail, but I didn't get an email. Did anyone? I wonder if I need to sign up again...
2. Wow, I like the booking interface. It's called "Calendar Shopping." Now if they could just do that with every fare class, we would have the Search by Price feature back.
3. However, I tried PHL-YUL. Calendar says that the fare is available on the 15th and 16th. I choose these dates, and the next screen says the fare is not available. Great. Oh well, I guess the old Search by Price did that too...

PHL YUL worked for me. Try entering it again.

Huh. PHL-YUL still doesn't work for me. On the calendar page, the O/W fare is $84. On the next page: "The $84 fare is not available for 1 passenger on your selected dates" and the fare rises to $97.

Maybe it's just an issue with Canadian cities? I have the same problem with YYZ and YOW. But all the other city pairs seem to price out fine.

It is the $84 fare just with taxes/surcharges added. When you go to the purchase page there is a breakdown of the fees:

Plus Fuel Surcharge $6.10
Subtotal $90.10
YUL to PHL - Fare Basis SESAVRWN $84.00
Plus Fuel Surcharge $6.10
Subtotal $90.10
Adjusted Base Fare $180.20
Tax: US Domestic Percentage $13.50
Total Fare $193.70
Tax: US Domestic Segment $6.60
Tax: Canada GST $0.80
Tax: Quebec Domestic Sales Tax $1.06
Fee: US Immigration $7.00
Fee: US Passenger Facility Charge $4.50
September 11 Security Fee $2.50

Ah, I see you're right. I didn't get to the third page.

Prices aren't so great. CO e-fares are much better. So are UA's.

these fares SUCK! PHX to TUS for $99 O/W ?! You can drive it 2.5 hours or less depending on traffic.
These aren't e-savers they're just BLOFARES in disguise

Then drive it. I think $99 each way for anyone dumb enough to get on the airplane instead of getting in the car is perfect. Not their responsibility to compensate for a stupid decision on the part of the traveler.
I think you could have come up with a better example.

Well since I don't live in PHX I highly doubt I would purchase such a foolish airfare. I was using the $99 PHX to TUS as an example that these are not the e-saver fares that we used to have.

I checked these out this week and I do agree - they aren't very good deals at all.
I remember the old US eSavers, they were much better!
I thought that the purpose these existed is because there were plenty of free seats on the flights on given days and wanted to generate traffic & revenue, even if they didn't get full fare value for the seats. However, with fares like these - no advantage will be gained by leisure travelers and I really don't think anyone will be surprised into a 'cheap' fare by these...most people will probably think: sure I could have gotten that fare if I booked it two weeks ago and made a 'real trip' out of a weekend instead of an ad-hoc one!
Just my two cents though :)

I saw these and were awed!! I thought $69 RT! That is just like the original esaver pricing--heck back in the late 90s that is what I paid for DCA-PIT when they first started esavers up!
Needless to say, I was rudely surprised when doing a test booking :td: US always did this one-way (but you can only buy roundtrip) advertising scam with the MetroJet fares. It should be illegal.

Got my e-mail this afternoon. So they're going out.

I was also not impressed by the offerings here. In fact, when US Airways started calling themselves a LCC, these were the types of REGULAR fares I was hoping for. Now, it just seems like you get LCC service for old airline prices...then the e-savers are just an insult. :td: :td: :td: :td: :td:
