Have a trip booked to Seoul-Tokyo later this year and used miles to go business class on Asiana and first class in the U.S.
I'm CP, but the CP line told me that I had to call Asiana and get my seat assignments myself. Is that true?

Yes, you have to call Asiana to get seat assignments for their segments.
I'm curious, though, are you saying you purchased this ticket and used miles to upgrade? Or, used miles for an international business class ticket, which includes domestic first class?

The latter. I used miles for the whole thing... ticket and upgrade.
