Anyone had before? What's it like? Their new menus look awesome, but very not kosher!

Should we choose Kosher or Vegetarian? I'm affraid seafood would = shell fish.

Going Business from LHR - JNB. Thanks!

Telephone Iberia and ask them what is in the various sorts of vegetarian meals. If the Kosher meals are loaded at LHR, they are some of the highest quality that you can get on an airline. I often order Kosher as there is no risk of shellfish. Enjoy Jo-burg!

As one who always orders the Kosher meal on the plane (i am a religous jew), i can say it is not worth it to order the kosher meal, as they are hardly never decent. If you are traveling BA from LHR, you will get a good meal, and from Europe (Gerrmany, Belgium etc..) it is alos good, but Spain is not so good, as for meals from the USA, there is not much to write home about.

You both bring up good points. What I am confused about is in "celebration" of IB's new chef, they have this lovely feature to their food. And then there is the disclaimer "Special kosher food is still available and should be requested when booking or 24 hours before the flight. The applicable fee is payable onboard, prior to consumption."

So, I don't know what this would mean. I did try calling IB and got disconnected because when I asked about the Kosher menus, the CSR couldn't understand the question and just hung up. They use some type of cheap VOIP phone calling.

I'll keep at it.

Are you flying in Business Class?

The reason that I ask is that many airlines (I know that AZ and AF are among these) have only one kind of kosher meal -- and it is served both in Economy and Business.

It is a compromise between the meals served in the two classes and is superior to that served in Y. I generally do not keep kosher but I always ask for it when flying -- for exactly that reason.

Indian vegetarian

I think that if you fly Kathy Pacific, and other Asian airlines, you will get better kosher meal in first or business, than coach.
But the American airlines, you are lucky if you get a meal. period.

It's interesting how two people can have such different experiences. I am also a religious Jew and have been generally happy with the kosher meals I receive, and wish that they were available on more flights.

I've had a lot of Kosher meals in flight and have never paid a fee to do so on any airline. I'm allergic to shellfish and trust Kosher to keep me healthy.
