I have a quick trip to St John coming for 4 nights at the Westin. I have been there but its been 10 years or so. I was not impressed with St Thomas, other than the market and the roof top view, so I plan to get to St John as quickly as possible. I have also been to Tortola, Pusser's and the isolated beaches aside, should I go to one of the other BVI's for the day or just stay put?
I have read that others suggest a rental car and the $85pp ferry ride is of mixed feelings.
Appreciated!

Can you shed some light on what it is you're looking for, what it is you want to do, what kind of stuff would appeal to you?
When I was there, I couldnt' get off of St. Thomas fast enough--it's "any-city-in-America" with palm trees thrown in, and the HUGE throngs & masses of people at Charlotte Amalie when the fleets of cruise ships come in is a little overwhelming. A cheap taki over to Red Hook and a ferry over to Cruise Bay were my rescues (thanks to Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook for great bev's & eats on the way).
Example, if you're into a great place to party, than Foxy's on JVD may be your ticket.
If you're looking for unique places to snorkel & dive, then the Anegada area of the BVIs, some areas around Norman/Peter Is. etc. might be cool (at least I thought so, but there are likely other recco's from diving enthusaists here...I was just a dork snorkeller at the time :D ). If you're into hiking, trails, etc. then you've already got plenty on St. John's to choose from, since the whole island is a US national park--the ranger station in Cruz Bay will be happy to help you plan some walking/hiking itineraries.
