I'm not flying anywhere these days, but I do have a NW WorldPerks account.
NW is running a promo (http://www.nwa.com/offers/20Kbonusplaye/?omni=em.solo.20060622.20k.v2.long.get) which gets you 500 bonus miles for every hotel stay.
Choice hotels will give you 250 miles per stay, so you could rack up 750 NW miles each stay.
The promo is good with Econolodges, too -- anyone know how that would work? AFAIK, Econolodge just puts stamps on a card or something.

Based on experiences with past NW promos similar to this, you have to have your miles post as associated with a particular hotel stay for it to work. If Econolodge can't post miles that way, it wouldn't qualify.
I'm unclear myself as to how it works there. At the Airlines Miles page:
they talk only about needing six stickers to TRANSFER to miles, as if direct earning to miles wasn't possible.
One thing you could try: Whenver I make a reservation with AA miles set as my preference, it says "your AAdvantage account XXXXX will be used in this reservation" in bold somewhere during the reservation process. You could set your preference to NW and put in your account number, then try a cancellable booking at an EconoLodge and see if it says that. (If you haven't noticed that before, try a a cancellable booking at a Choice Priveleges location the same way so you'll see what I'm referring to.)
(I've caught myself having miles selected when I wanted points for a stay because of seeing this notice come up in my confirmation. Unfortunately, to change your preference in a particular confirmation, I see no way to do it without cancelling and rebooking from scratch.)

From recent episodes .. Yes, I've been able to collect NWA miles at E-Lodges, but it's always a tussle. (that rant is elsewhere in this forum :D )
The key is in your preferences settings, as noted above; if your reservation confirmation prints the 'miles' statement, you have a solid argument.
Hmmm.. NWA 20K promo runs 82 days: sooo.. 500 miles/stay x 20 stays = the required 10,000 -> 20,000 RDM
plus the 5,000 RDM you'd get anyway. ^

/.I have a "tame" HGI in the neighborhood, the same rate as the local Quality Inn. My plan is to ping-pong between the two.
500 miles at HGI + 250 at QI + 500 miles each = 3500 miles/week. 10 weeks = 35,000 miles, 20,000 of which are the max allowable bonus.

oh, to be a road-warrior .. (sometimes) :D
While you're doing your projections: concensus seems to be that once you've hit the 10k requirement (ie 20 x 500), the game's over. (wouldn't object to being proven wrong, though !)

/.It appears you're right, but ...
If I read the NW T&C's correctly, once you get 10,000 bonus miles, they throw in an additional 10,000. So I wind up with 10,000 from Hilton, 10,000 from NW (@500 miles per stay) plus 10,000 bonus, or a total of 30,000 NW miles.
