I noticed that most of the cheap Y fares won't earn any miles e.g. SQ and CX, if crediting to LH and AA.thinking about SIN/BKK and MNL.let's see!thanks again

I flew on UA cost with taxes everything was $145 app. and I got about 3300 miles RT and my regular miles plus my 1 K bonus. So roughly 6600 air miles 3,300 EQM's and a bump to business on one flight.

I found the taxes were really minor, nothing special. Best way si to do a price compare as they ask for no credit card. Just fill in your dates, your airline and book. They will get back to you in 1-3 days unless you mark it urgent and let you know if the flight is available at that time you have to pay if you want it.
I was credited full miles and bonuses.

Bubba, there is one at http://www.airfare.com.sg or airfares.com.sg, can't remember which. Have never used them but they were pretty reasonable pricing.
A note on travelsexpert.com for those who have been interested: got my quotation back in 12 hours from them. They do charge a 3% credit card fee, and in my case the same fare they offered was available from http://www.zuji.com.sg with less surcharges. It came out to about USD$20 cheaper from Zuji. Just a reminder to check multiple sources...

Hi, The site is legit, I went there in person before I bought my first ticket. A real travel agent, lots of people, signage, partnerships etc.
I went to the site just now and looked at the deal. I think if you read the comments (Email to us for best offer) you might think that the price is wrong and that they may have a special negotiated price for this hotel that they cant disclose. This is only my thoughts. So I would email them as they ask and see what the price is.

If it makes any difference, the USD$140 on zuji.com.sg books into q, so it is actually a different deal for same price.
Not that it could matter, except maybe for special promotions--Q is still not upgradable with anything except an SWU.

Or you can go first class on Gulf Air for only $400 and $540 on TG

I'm not such a big fan: you can't directly book, the site only shows you the fare, not the fully loaded +taxes +fees total, and the staff have NEVER responded to any booking requests.
For those who have been honored with a response, how much extra cost is added to a $210 HGK-BKK tix? In other words, what is the final, fully loaded, charged-to-credit-card amount?

I've never not had a response from them and always within 24-36 hours depending on where I am logged on (time difference)
The taxes I paid from HKG to SIN was around $35 or $40
I don’t know why you aren’t getting the displayed price as I have gotten it when I put in the dates and flights I wanted, perhaps you aren’t going all the way with it. Remember they are not asking for a credit card only a valid email address to send your quote to and it even has a option of what you want to do if they don’t have seats available Ie. cancel, try another day etc.
I have been using them since Feb. this year and have had tremendous service.

It was posted before (not sure if this is the board) SINBKK vv in C on LX is SGD500+ all in. Occasionally, TG might have some pretty nice deals in C too, but on their AB6, which looks a tad old.
You might want to scour the local papers for deals. Some other websites to consider: www.zuji.com.sg to check on fares. How you want to book is totally up to you.

They may save you some, even though that's usually not worth the hassle. Depending on the season, SIN (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=604862) fares can be pretty cheap from the US. However, breaking the trip in HKG or SIN and buying a second ticket is almost always a good idea when travelling to more exotic destinations like CMB or MLE (and DEL from the West Coast).

It really depends on the fare you get to Hong Kong.
First find your cheapest fare to your destination and then the cheapest to Hong Kong then add your fare from HK to final destination.
For those going to Manila you can get return fares from HK for as little as $90

The Singapore departures are working now only to UK. US, China, are not working. Macau is working now. UK is working now. The same MD controls both sites, so you get the same assurances.
As you have pointed out the sites are really good and the fares change all the time.
What I like about www.travelsexpert.com is that you can check and see if the flights are available without giving your credit card details and they let you know usually within 24 hours if it is available and at that time, you can book. They hold the seat for you for another 48 hours so you have time to confirm your booking at the price quoted.
This is a good way to check for no obligations and no credit card details so in effect you are anonymous.

Great news www.travelsexpert.com has updated their site and now offer flights from USA, Macau, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and UK.
Until end of month they only offer internal USA flights.
Just to recap, they are travel wholesalers and are a bucket shop for United.
You can request an airfare price including all taxes by asking for one. You don't have to use a credit card when requesting a full price and seat availability.
The price shown does not include taxes but the taxes are very reasonable.
I have used this site for many bookings and am very impressed with their service and especially the pricing.
I typically fly UAL from HK to Sin for about $140
Check it out

Do tickets purchased through this site earn United redeemable miles and qualification miles/segments?
What do you mean by "bucket shop"?

They are showing hkg-yvr biz class (on oasis airline?) One way for <12000 hkd - or about 1800 cdn - AND 2 for 1 ??
--- anybody booked this?
--- any experience w/ oasis air?
--- how secure is this purchase if done from yvr? (Cousins had a terrible bucket shop experience I'd pay thousands to avoid... )
Appreciate comments!

Yes every flight I took I received miles and bonus 1K miles
Bucket shop is a term used to describe that a company sells excess seats that the airline can't sell. This is one interpretation of the term bucket shop

They now have fares from USA to CHINA, only the majors for now but are updating all the time.
If you're in Asia, check for fares within Asia, I found Hong Kong to Singapore for example on United for about $140 class w and $190 for V class fare. Upgradeable and full points and bonuses.

I check this site out and they do not have better fares to Asia, and as far as rooms go in Asia you can't beat www.agoda.com, not only do they have cheaper rooms you can become a member and get points back (money) for further use on other hotel stays around the world.
Asia com is not a bucket shop and that is why their prices are higher.
If I find a cheaper booking website for asia I will let you all know as I live in Bangkok and for the last 3 years have not found a cheaper place to buy airfare than www.travelsexpert.com

Absoutely! Asia.com has fares from all major cities in the US.
Travelsexpert only list fares from LAX and SFO. And then only to three cities in asia. There's several million people who do not live in or near Los Angeles and San Francisco. As far as I'm concerned, Travelsexpert sucks big time.:td:

I requested quotes three times from them and their sister site (aerohkg), never got an answer from either. It seems that if they don't have the flights you are requesting, they just don't bother answering.

Travelsexpert are just opening up the USA market and are adding cities everyweek. Same goes for China. There past major area of ticketing was out of Hong Kong.
As far as responses goes for travel request....well I have booked over 6 flights with this company and have never ever not had a reply within 24 hours. Other members on this site have said the same thing.
As far as this site sucks, it may for you but for many others it has been a blessing with savings. I fly HK to SIN on UAL for about $140 to $200 depending on class. I don't know of one other company out there that offers United flights this cheap.
For those of you who are looking for cheap airfare with all bonuses and upgrades you can't go past this company for asian flights and soon for US and London orginating flights.
Enjoy your savings

The continuous and unabated promotion of Travelsexpert by I-flybynight appears to be a commercial promotion in violation of Flyertalk's t&cs.
This thread has been kept alive by I-flybynight continually updating or bumping. Moderators should take note and lock this thread.

Yeah, well I just tried to get the S$58 SIN-SGN 1-way fare that is on the Jetstar site and which I just bought.
It is on neither of these magnificent websites.

I've found this post quite informative. Since expertstravel operates out of HKG, it's natural that the there's a limited audience here, and hence the slow traffic. I doubt that I-flybynight, who has been a long time member with over 2k posts, is trotting this thread for personal gain.
Travelsexpert does has a useful search engine. It lists the fare classes available from multiple airlines. It's a great tool to compare options. For example, I selected HKG-HKT in May, and it listed over 20 different fares, from HK$1,700 to HK$4,900. You can then read the fare restrictions. The problem is that if you want to book the fare, you have to use the online form. I've actually called them on occasions and talked to some helpful agents.
BTW, the site lists several low fares to SIN right now, and UA is not the lowest.
CX, Q fare, HK$1,260
SQ, V fare, HK$1,290
UA, V fare, HK$1,440

You have to understand that TravelsExpert operates out of HK and they are a small potato compare to Asia.com. There are many travel agents in SFO/LAX/NYC/IAH areas that cater mostly to Chinese. If you read the local Chinese newspapers, you will see tons of them. That's TravelExperts market, people travel from HK and people who visit HK. I doubt that they are trying to serve the whole 300 million population in US.
