I just called BoA, after having the US Air Signature card for 2 years and spending about $50k on it. I asked if they'd match Juniper's offer of no annual fee for 2 years and 25k bonus miles.
Their reply: "We can offer you 10k miles."
Me: "Is the annual fee refunded and waived next year?"
Reply: "No, it would still be $90 later in the year"
Canceled.....
I'd love to find out how much they pay for each mile from US.

BofA is known as "Bank of Airhead" in our household. If you really want to get the detailed dirt and some emotions behind this, I'll have to get my wife signed up on FT. I hate BofA, but my wife? .........

In my opinion they stink, but a $90 ticket to BUF ain't bad... considering US was charging $300.. I say screw them... well both of them.

I just called to cancel my BofA Signature Card also. First I spent 25 minutes on hold waiting for the cancellation department. I told the rep I would be happy to keep the card, just waive the fee. No dice. I then had to endure a 5 minute sermon on "How Great Our Card Art". I responded by telling him "I live in Charlotte and am familiar with the record profits at BofA. You obviously want my $90 more than you want my 10+ years of purchases. Cancel the card". I was really surpised when he didn't blink.
DOHHHHH, I forgot to ask if they will credit a partial amount of the fee!

Just called BofA to ask them to waive my annual fee which they just posted on the exact same day my CP packet arrived with the offer from Juniper. Even though I have had the card for over 7 years and have, according to them, earned over 330,000 miles due to purchases, they declined to waive the fee or do anything to keep me. See ya BofA!

Yeah the BofA rep didn't even blink when I cancelled my card either. She made no attempt whatsoever to keep me as a customer, after something like 15 years. It amazed me that a company could care less about keeping loyal customers.

Considering this card will only exist for another 18 months anyway, they probably realized it's not worth it to give out all these incentives, especially to those who don't maintain a balance each month.

Is that information about the BOA card termination published somewhere?

I haven't seen anything from the airline directly, but it has been reported in numerous newspapers.
Thank you so much! I knew there was a contract dispute but I did not know how it turned out. I was checking the old threads here to see if it was posted here, but I did not have any luck yet!

Just called B of A - to cancel my signature card. Got transfered to the cancellation department and explained that I did not want to pay for a credit card I could get for free from a different bank with the same benefits. He offered to waive the fee and I did not even ask for it to be waived. I was in shock....so I stayed. :D BTW...I do not carry a balance - I pay it off every month.
I will still be getting the 'other' USAirways credit card to get the 10k additional preferred miles.

The deal is that BofA used to issue both the US Airways and America West cards. BofA's contract with America West expired at the end of 2005 and they were replaced by Juniper. However, in the mean time they merged with US Airways, and the contract for that card hasn't run out yet.

Interesting article, but it seems that at the time (early January), the legal smoke, including that surrounding the bankruptcy, had not cleared. Thus, perhaps the fat lady has not sung yet. Anything more recent about the future of BofA as an issuer of a USAir card? And does it matter that BofA issues a Visa, while Juniper issues an MC?
