According to Morning Calm e-mail newsletter,
KE confirms that they will add ICN ↔ LAS route from Sep 2006.
They didn't mention details such as equipment, service frequency,
exact launch date and etc.
LAS will be KE's 11th direct destination in the US territory.
Hope Koreans don't lose money in Vegas. :)

Right. All those glitz are paid by losers...
P.S. I wonder whether K-drama "Mr. Goodbye" helped a little bit too.

Does KE will codeshare with DL whose connections from LAS-ICN-LAS? I can even take on KE nonstop from LAS-ICN for connections in the Asia flights. I am not even sure about KE will able get codeshare with DL from LAS-ICN. Can anyone else need find out more info about KE/DL. Thanks! :)

All KE's flights between ICN & US are codeshare with DL.
Except of GUM & ANC route (Don't know yet since KE will resume service to
ANC in Jul). KE also has codeshare with CO for several west coast routes
such as LAX, SFO & HNL. Hope KE will codeshare with DL & CO for this route
too. I will keep you posted as soon as I get the answer from KE. :)

Quick question for you. What's the real advantage of a codeshare vs buying directly from KE? I have purchased 2 C fares from BKK to LAX from DL, using the KE codeshare. Now I am about to buy a 3rd, but DL's prices for the same routings are 200 to 400$ more expensive... so I am going to buy my next ticket directly from KE.
For me, as long as the price difference was less than 70$ or so, I would buy DL because of the convenience of knowing how to deal with DL's res agents. But the difference now does not justify this anymore. Particularly when DL's inventory on the LAX-NRT is very limited so that I may not be able to change my flights to some date if I need to do it last minute.

I've got an e-mail from KE customer service.
To make a long story short, I was told "Sorry, we don't know yet".
I don't think "LAS route codeshare with DL" is a secret.
Anyway I will bet KE will codeshare with DL for LAS route.
When it comes to demand for this route, KE will be targeting not only
Koreans but also Asians such as Japanese, Chinese and others. Both
leisure and business passengers. When Las Veags convention & visitors
authority, Seoul office celebrated their 6th anniversay couple of days ago,
KE officially announced LAS route launching same day. I guess they will work
together and promote Las Vegas route aggressively. Whenever KE or OZ
launch several new routes, I could see tons of tour package ads from
newspapers. :) I was told Prague and Istanbul became very popular
destinations in Korea these days since KE launched the routes.
Of couse, KE discontinued their several underperformed US routes couple of
years ago such as EWR, DEN & BOS. KE have added SEA route and resumes
ANC route temporary in Jul. Hope everything goes well with LAS route.
When I go to CES next January, this route allows me to have a better &
convenient access to Las Vegas. No need to stopover at LAX or SFO or SEA.
CES reminds me of funny story. I used to fly EWR to LAS when I was in the
states. Everytime CO flight was packed and most of passengers were elite,
more than 90%. CO ground staff told us that she has never seen so many
elite members on the flight. :) They allowed elite members to enjoy priority
boarding even though most of passengers were elite. Business people seems
to love CO. "Work Hard Fly Right". I love their motto, too. :p

This is very interesting. Last year, when I visited Jeju island, I found that the casino in the hotel expressly forbid Korean citizens from entering. Presumably, the government didn't want their own citizens frittering away their money. Given this context, I'm surprised that they are now permitting their flag carrier to fly to Vegas. Of course you can't entirely prevent your populace from gambling, but you certainly can make it difficult.

I don't think that it matters on C-class flights, but it can make a difference on some of the cheaper coach fares. Those folks looking to earn EQMs in Continental's program often do better booking the flights with their DL codeshare numbers than with the KE numbers.
The LAS destination is also a bit ironic right now given some of the latest controversy in Korea. I connected through Incheon yesterday and was reading in the local newspaper about a scandal related to the government certifying some gaming machines that could "allegedly" be used for gambling.

I agree. in c class, it really doesn't matter. Unless you get extra bonus miles from DL, buying from either one is pretty much the same. Personally, I have bought from both DL and KE on KE flights and there was no difference whatsoever.

I'm planning on taking this flight SEL-LAS next month. What are the seats and service like in biz class? Is there a first class and do they do upsells?
