Friends are driving to Sturgis this summer and making a stopover either in Chicago or at the Mall of of America.

What are some of the not to miss things in Chigago for three women on a budget looking to experience the city?!

You should do a search of this forum. Or, at a minimum look at the threads from the last month, and you should find several ideas, most recently, the thread "Eleven Hours in Chicago..." It has loads of suggestions of things to do.

Even if on a budget, walking around Oak St/Michigan Ave is something you can't find in every city. Also, the Marshall Field's on State Street is quite an impressive department store.

Definitely go up in one of the buildings -- Hancock or Sears -- to the observation deck.

I'm always impressed by our lake front -- there's a nice outdoor grill at North Ave (Castaways) where you can catch a great view of the lake and skyline.

If you're going to Sturgis, may want a meal at Twisted Spoke.

Chicago: great food, culture, parks, lakefront, jazz, blues, shopping, architecture. One of the US's great cities.

Mall of America: giant corporate mall, amusement park with Snoopy theme,in Minnesota. Of course, all indoors. Parking lots named by state.

Allegedly, it will not be a generic chain store, but one of three Macy's "flagship" stores (along with New York and San Francisco). Time will tell.
