Found this the other day while scrolling through the airliners.net forums. I figured that many of you who've been flying US for a while might even remember ads like this airing.
I also thought that US Airways FAN might enjoy this too, seeing as his signature line is the focus of the clip!

Wow, is that sappy. And sadly no longer true.

I can still remember (and sing) the little jingle at the end.

That was a great jingle....still memorable. I still remember a billboard near Logan Airport over 10 years ago that read "YOUSAir" in large letters with "USAir begins with you" below....pretty clever. ;)

I remember that billboard, too. Southbound on 1A right near the tank farm.

The "USAir Begins with You" campaign was developed by McCann-Erickson and launched in the spring of 1991. It was gradually phased out in the 1995-96 time period when a new Senior Vice President-Marketing joined the company and determined was too hoaky.

Yep, 1A near the tank farm. I remember one northbound at one time as well, just north of the tank farm area.
As hokey as "USAir begins with you" might have been, it was pretty clever and I miss it.
In other retro news, I was poking through a rack on the gate A-8 counter at CLE on Friday waiting for my flight to CLT and came across a whole bunch of old ticket envelopes, the first-generation gray style with the logo the long way and no slot cut into the front. They were dated 2000 and still included mentions of things like MetroJet, 2 carryons being allowed, and flights closing 10 minutes before departure (versus 15 today). They appeared to be "new old stock"--probably sat at the bottom of a pile of ticket jackets for 6 years and were just found. I took several for the collection, and I'm glad I did. They were all gone when I came back on Tuesday and checked on my way off my plane.
Just for fun, every now and then I pull out an old "USAir begins with you" ticket jacket and use it....it's always noticed by ticket agents.

and, for what it's worth, the version shown on retrojunk.com is an abbreviated version of what was mostly used during the height of that campaign. The longer 60-second version sung by a male vocalist was far better, IMO.

Yeah...I posted this a little while ago. sbtinme if you ever come across the male 60 sec version let me know. I always heard the 30 second version back in the day. Never did hear the 60 sec version. I am sure OLD US Airways has it some where in their archives. I wonder if they keep any of their old commericals on tape in storage?? Since CCY is gone it is hard to say where anything is anymore.
I actually saved that commercial to my PC now. Just in case retro junk kills it one day.
