Well this will be my first time flying HP. We are leaving LAX-LAS in July. Since I have a US Gold card and UA 1K can I use special security screening lines? how are the wait times? Can we request exit row seats for the short flight?

You obviously haven't been to LAX T1 before. There are no elite security lines in that terminal.

The reason is because WN thinks they own the terminal. Maybe now that HP and US have combined to make a larger airline, they can demand that one be installed.

I know if you're traveling on USAirways, you don't have to join the line with WN pax; at least, I was directed to a much shorter line: I didn't have to go through the pre-security screen filter. I have to imagine that HP is the same now that they're merged.

HP did that sometimes as well. However, even for US it wasn't always standard procedure.

Actually, they have just completed a major upgrade of the security lines at T-1 and the improvement is pretty significant. I have not had a problem since they opened the new section and the huge waits seem to have disappeared. The longest line I have had recently is <15 min.

I read on here once that the elevator on the ticketing level in LAX/T1, just to the left of the main security area can be used for elite/FC to by-pass the cattle line. I'll be heading out of there next Monday and will give it a try!

Get over yourself. Nobody likes lines. You obviously haven't traveled enough from T1 at LAX...yeah WN clogs up those security check-points, but I've traveled peak times and never stood in line for more than 15 min.
