I'm going to Vegas this coming weekend and I have never seen a show of this type but promised myself last time I went that I would see what all the fuss was about. So now the time has come, but I haven't ANY idea of what show to see and everyone I talk to says something diferent. So out of these 4 shows (Le Reve, O, Zumanity, or Mystère) which one would you recommend. Thanks

Whatever you do, DON'T see Ka! ;)
But seriously, it depends on what you like. I'm pretty sure there's been lots and lots of discussion on all the different CDS/clone shows on this forum. Did you try a search?

Do you even know if you can get tickets for any of these shows, or are you planning on buying scalpers tickets?

Mystere tickets should be easier to get than O tickets. Availability will probably be the deciding factor.

Welcome to FlyerTalk JonNeeBoy. Since you have not been to any of these shows, my suggestion would be either Mystere or O. Here are some links to discussions on shows you are interested in. Have fun.

I've only seen O and Mystere but my girlfriend has seen them all:

1. O
2. Mystere
3. Zumanity
4. Le Reve

She says Zumanity is kind of weird and Le Reve stinks. I really like O.

Zumanity is fun. Just dont take kids or anyone homophobic.
O is the best.
Have not seen La Reve or Ka yet.
Have friends that did not like Ka very much.

The new one based on the Beatles music is due to open soon at Mirage.
"Love" opens June 2nd.

La Reve rocks! Best show in Vegas and in an incredible theater. Have not met a soul who saw the show and did not love it. You can also get late bookings at the Wynn box office, the theater is in the round and the water surrounds all seating sections - you will love it!

I appreciate all the responses. We've decieded to see Zumanity. The price was reasonable and they still had tickets left. Thanks to everyone for the help.

I would go to "O". You might be able to get one ticket. :)

I've determined from personal experience that the lack of availability of 'O' tickets is partially a myth. A large number of seats are held for high rollers and VIP's until 1 - 3 weeks before the show. After that, significant availability can open up.

The website is the worst way to order tickets. It often does not display the best seats in each price range. For example, wet seats in the first few rows will generally show up even if center upper orchestra seats are available.

Usually the best ways to check availability and to directly purchase tickets:
First choice: In person
Second: By phone
Third: Website
(Other ways such as eBay/brokers/scalpers may fit in somewhere, too, of course.)

Yesterday, I bought two seats in the rear center of upper orchestra for this weekend. And if better seats open up before the day of the show, it's possible to exchange up to the better seats for no charge.

Some ticket staff members have recommended calling on the Sunday or Monday before the day you want tickets.

I've found this same strategy to apply to the other Cirque shows. Last night, I saw that Zumanity showed second row center seats for this weekend. One week ago, the best seats online were in the balcony or on the side. (I really wonder how long Zumanity will last. It always seems to have so much availability, but it has lasted much longer than I thought it would.)

Also of note in yesterday's news: "Wynn pays $16 million for rights to revamp 'Le Reve' (http://www.kesq.com/Global/story.asp?S=5002760&nav=9qrx)"

"Dragone company spokeswoman Ingrid Jensen says Wynn intends to add lights, a laser show and perhaps more performers to the aquatic performance 'Le Reve.'"
...
"Jensen says Wynn has hired the artistic director of surrealist dance troupe company MOMIX, Moses Pendleton, to complete the expansion of the show by some time in 2007."

Getting back to your original question, which show to see, I have seen three of those you mention (all except La Reve). I also have heard/read negative reviews of Ka.

Mystere was the first show I ever saw so is my favorite. O was also impressive but honestly once you have seen one it is hard to be quite as impressed the second time around. I'm sure if I'd seen O first that would be my favorite.

Loved Zumanity also -- Mr. SEA2BA and I went last October for our anniversary. The suggestiveness/nudity angle was the cool part, but because I'd already seen Mystere and O the acrobatics themselves were semi-old hat.

I'd say any of the shows you'll love and be wowed by. It's more a matter of which one is easiest to get get good seats to.

Have fun!

WOW! I went tonight to the fifth preview showing of "The Beatles LOVE" at the Mirage. Excellent theater and an awesome show. There's more dancing than acrobatics in this show, but there's still plenty of action. (A scene with trampolines to the music of "Revolution" was one of my favorites.) The theater in the round was excellent. Over 6300 speakers, a major projection system, lots and lots of swings and special effects via cables from above, and a very energetic cast.

The show starts off a little disjointed for the first couple songs. But the cast and crew know it, and I think that they'll tweak it a bit before the official premier on June 30. After the openers, there was just one piece that I thought was a little weak and needing some improvements.

But when the final scene finished, the audience was quick to a standing ovation. I highly recommend this show!

Seating
I was seated on the front row of section 203. That's the second price level, but I felt that I was in one of the best seats in the house. I have a hard time imagining liking the lower seats more because it would be hard to see the action on the other side of the stage sometimes. (And there was very frequently more going on than you could observe.)

Higher seats would still be great, but just a different perspective. I worry that they might sometimes have obstructed views because of the projection screens that are sometimes drawn above the stage. However, I liked this show enough that I'd like to see it again from a different seat from a different angle on the other side of the theater. I truly believe that every seat is good.

I attended tonight's show because I got an invitation to attend a post-show discussion and opportunity for feedback with about a dozen members of the cast and crew. Everyone that attended was offered a survey after the show, too. They are in "preview" mode this month, and tickets are discounted 25%. However, there are some kinks to work out and changes to make based on the preview surveys, so pickier fans should wait until after the "world premier" at the end of the month.
