Flying HKG-IST on TK. I understand that they have cradle type J seats on this route and there is a bar in the front of the cabin.

Does anyone have a picture of the J cabin or knows if the bulkhead seats are disturbed by activity at the bar in any way?

How is the service and catering?

Here is a seating cart http://flyturkish.com/products.htm

There is a small wall in front of the service bar which only pretty much gets used early in the flight. I don’t see any issue with leg room in front of the bar as I think that most of the seats are the same. The first two center row seats have no bins over them which I find opens up the cabin a bit, but you have to stow your items a few rows back or across the aisle. There never is a problem with overhead space on the 340.

Service and food I find pretty average, but better than the US carriers, however finding semi-fluent English speaking crews is a little hit and miss, especially on the US flights. The video channels are also hit and miss, I frequently find that reception on some of the channels is problematic.

On a side note I flew a 330 to Dubai last week which was very nice in J. They had the leather diagonal “flat” recline pod style seats like Emirates J with very large video screens. I hope that I get the same equipment tonight as it is miles better than their 737 Euro-business.

There is a new CIP lounge in IST which has to be seen to be believed. It is very large with a combination of old Turkish style furniture, crystal and fringe lamps and very sterile and uncomfortable cube sofas In the middle of the room there is a Japanese garden. Very odd! My only real complaint is that you can’t hear the boarding announcements in the main room very well.

Thanks for the info. What about on either sides of the bar - 1AB/JK?

I did IST - ORD today and apparently got out just before the big fire broke out.

I was in 2E which put the bar right in front of me which I liked. It felt like there was a little more leg room; the drink service was more attentive as I was directly in front of the flight attendants. Looking at 1 A/B J/K there did appear to be a little less leg room and I don't think that the bar would bother me as much as the constant snapping shut of the galley curtains. All things considered, I would say that row 1 would not be my first choice.
