Just found the flyer in my room last night. Apparently the same Visa as before, with BofA, but now when you apply between June 1 and Aug 31 you get a 24,000 point bonus. No annual fee, of course.
Bummer for me -- I got my card in March and only got an 8,000 point bonus. Methinks I shall call BofA and whine and wheedle a bit. :)

Hmmm. You're right, that link only has the 8000 point offer.
I haven't tried the 800 number, but I re-read the flyer and it definitely states 24,000 points in the T&C's and they also reference 3 free nights.
It may be slow in getting the website updated, but calling should get the proper response.
Here's the wording from the T&C's:
"D. Three free nights is based on an 8,000 point Choice Privileges award night. A free night may require more points at certain hotels. For point level information, visit choiceprivileges.com. Please allow 4-6 weeks after your purchase [This is the first purchase requirement] for the 24,000 points to be deposited into your Choice Privileges account. To be eligible, you must apply for the credit card between June 1 and August 31, 2006 and use the card by November 1, 2006."
Semms pretty clear to me. :) Whoo-hoo!

Yes, the offer seems available right now, with 24K point bonus.
Also, isn't 24K enough for (4) free nights? Some Choice hotels have a 6K point redemption level (i.e. Comfort Inn Airport South, San Mateo CA)?

I'm getting no joy from either BofA or Choice.
My story is, since I'm a very good customer and I signed up just a short time before this bonus went into effect, it would be good customer relations to give me the bonus (or at least the difference between this bonus and the one I actually did get). BofA says call Choice; Choice says call BofA.
So I suggested that I could just cancel my existing card and apply for the new one, and they had a conniption fit -- warned me that it would show up on a report (my "permanent record"? :) ) and they would sieze my points.
Heavens!
I plan on calling BofA back and see if I can get a supervisor or soeone who can approve this. Yeah, I know it's not strictly kosher, but the whole thing happened just a couple of weeks after I signed up, and there is such a thing as keeping your good customers happy.
We'll see.

There's another option that may be available. I see nothing in the language (did I miss it?) that says you can only have one card, or that you can't earn the bonus if this is a second card.
If BofA is typical, they'll require a 3 month wait between applying for the first card and the second card, but since the promo lasts till Aug 31 that isn't necessarily ruled out (since it's more than 3 months from NOW until then, and you've certainly had the card now for a month or more, no?).
And if they let you do that, isn't that BETTER than them giving you an extra 16000 points? Because if you can actually get a second card, you'd get an extra 24000 points (since you'd already have your existing 8000 points)!
And since it's a no-annual-fee card, it wouldn't cost you any $. (Whether it would cost you anything in FICO score is a separate issue, but presumably no more than applying for a different card, and maybe less since it's with the same bank.)
I'm not very familiar with BofA on this. I do know that FirstUsa -- now Chase -- is "world famous" for letting people apply for multiple cards such as UA's and get the bonus miles for each of them...

The only difficulty with the second card is that I would have two accounts, no? And there's no way to combine them.
I could apply for the card using my current number, but I think (not sure) they say any one person can only get one bonus.
Since it's the weekend, I'll haver plenty of time to brood about it and examine my options.

You'd have two credit card accounts, yes. But you'd only have on Choice Priveleges account (that both cards would be linked to).
This is common at other credit companies. During the time I've had a no-fee 1 mile/2$ UA credit card from First Usa (now Chase), I got a first-year-fee-waived 1 mile/$ UA credit card from them, used them both for a short time (but mainly obviously only the 1 mile/$ card) for iDines, and both posted to the same UA FF account just fine. So there's no offhand reason why it wouldn't be possible at BofA if they allow it. It's therefore mainly a policy question, not a techincal one.
As for combining them: Pick one to put all your activity on after you satifsy the requirements of the bonus on both of them. The other will thus become inactive after that. Down the line (no hurry), you can call them to ask them to either cancel one or merge them. Again, at other credit card companies (both First Usa and MNBA) I've had no problem merging cards when one that I used was new and one I no longer used had the longer credit history (they can merge such as to get the credit history and perhaps credit limit of the card you're dropping onto the card you're keeping). So whether BofA can do this is again mostly a policy question. (Which it would take someone with a lot of expereince with BofA to answer, whereas I have never had a BofA card until the last couple months.)

How long ago did you get the first card?
If it was less than three months, I would suggest waiting until three months go by, because they may reject that application (not the points) if you apply "too quickly". (Definitely other banks do.)
But since this 24k bunus lasts all summer, that shouldn't be a problem no matter when you applied.

Caution - Choice has no blackout dates, but they do have capacity controls on their award nights. And they've raised the points required for awards in many of their properties (in some cases quite significantly) in the last year.
In addition, the points are only good for two years. So there's a high risk of losing earned points (or being forced to convert them to airline miles at a very disadvantageous exchange rate).
Bottom line - most people are better off with a cash rebate card. (The bonus is enticing, but getting credit cards just for bonuses too many times will reduce your credit score. If you've already got a B of A credit card, it may be worth calling to see if they'll convert it to a Choice card without showing it as a new application on your credit report - I don't know if B of A will do this, but I've done it to convert a Citi AA card to a Citi cash back card.)

I agree re the 8,000pt./night for Choice Hotels. This has been the flaw in their "2 Stays = Free Night" promotions tecently, as well. Few Choice Hotels are 8,000/night, and they have recently introduced seasonal variation -- e.g., different point requirements for different times of the year at the same property. In very, very few cases did the new "low season" requirements come in lower than they previously required year-round, or at or less than 8,000.
There are extensive threads on AA, UA, and US boards, at least, about the ins and outs (literally) of the CC promotions - some that stretch credulity - but there appear to be some real experts. Warning: It sounds like they will occupy your time, big time.

Since I'm juggling three hotel programs, I have the "luxury" of doing stays exactly when and where I want. My current goal with Choice is two nights at the Plaza on the River in London in September -- cost, 60,000 points.
With my current balance, some unposted stays, the balance on my Diners card (which I'm closing) and directing one large item to my Choice cc, I'll have about 60,100 points by the middle of July. Bingo.
After that, it's stay other places until they run a decent promo, because it's not worth the ordinary points yield without some sort of kicker.

Points add up fast
They don't add up as fast they seem.
The 24000 adds up exactly once. There's no "add fast" on something that happens only once!
The 15 points per dollar on Choice hotel stays is very misleading. It's actually 5 points per dollar on the credit card, plus the NORMAL 10 points per dollar that you'd get from the hotel even if you paid with ANOTHER credit card.
At inexpensive hotels, thus, without good STAY bonuses*, even with this card, IMHO points add up slowly. (So slowly that I don't bother with points on cheap one-night stays when there are no stay bonuses, I get 250 miles or 0.5 Southwest credit instead.)
*Recent stay bonuses included 8000 total points for every 2 stays, which is OODLES more than "normal" (if you do cheap one-night stays), and 1000 bonus points for stays over the summer booked and paid with the Choice Visa (but you only had a few-week booking window in the spring). But if you didn't do that booking ahead, right now there's no stay bonus (only the credit card signup bonus, which is supposed to keep you happy over the summer).

You had to book by May 17 (a friggin' Tuesday!) and stay by Aug. 31. I mean, do you know in May where you'll be staying in August? I don't.
I suppose I could have just booked every night at alternate properties, but the website doesn't make it all that easy, and the rates changed June 1, and so on, so I just booked until the end of May and I'm staying somewhere else until promo season starts again.
Then there was the "mature traveller" rate -- book online, get the rate, and 1000 point bonus. Seemed good, until I was told that the offer expired with the other one on May 17. There was absolutely no linkage between the two offers, but ... their game, their rules.

How do you look up the reward level on Choice website? Do they show something like the Marriott Reward site where you can look up the cat or pt levels for properties?
We can use the Choice pts as we had stayed in Cairns, Australia in one of the 2 Choice properties there in 2003 and most likely would revisit the area in spring of 2007. Back then we were using the lastminute site of Australia to book our stay, costed about $110 or so per night.
You may also want to check out Priority Club's bonus offer, there is a targeted offer of 30K bonus pt vs the generic 15K bonus pt on its website.
Do a search in Priority Club forum you should be able to locate the link. The offer started in Dec and is still good as people reported receiving email with the link just recently. They also throw in $20 statement credit and first 6 months 0% on purchase if you need a big ticket item.
30K PC pts get you Intercontinental anywhere in the world for the standard room. We booked 5 nights in Paris for Sept using both spouses PC pts. Oh, it is flat 30K per night, does not have MR's sliding scale. And booking and cancellation are instant on the web, by far the most painless award redemption process.

As the mostly oblique references note above, in the "serenity season" (late fall) and the spring, there is usually a promotion in which Choice will round-up points earned for two stays to 8,000 points, good enough for a free night in a few of their hotels. In the off-season. Choice has recently devalued their points, and added a seasonal variation. The free night can be useful when you need a night near an airport at the start or end of a trip.

Signed up for the Bank Of America Choice Privileges Visa credit card for the 3 free nights offer (actually 24,000 points) on May 18, 2006. Had linked to B of A credit card sign up site from the Choice Privileges web site.
Recently (last week) I got my first statement and only got a first usage bonus of 8,000 points.
So, today (June 15, 2006), I called Bank Of America Customer Service and the csr reviewed my records and said "yes, you should have gotten the 24,000 bonus" then transferred me to Choice Privileges Customer Service to find out when I would get the bonus. At Choice Privileges Customer Service the csr said that B of A must submit the points; that they only post what B of A submits. However, after the csr reviewed my situation with a supervisor, the csr advised me that the 24,000 points bonus was for only those that signed up between June 1, 2006 thru August 31, 2006 (which is what the Choice Privileges web site now says). I informed her that I had print-outs from my sign up pages on the B of A site and there is no such mention of the June 1, 2006 earliest sign-up requirement anywhere on the sign up site/pages (including the terms and conditions page) and that there is mention of getting 24,000 points upon first usage everywhere on those pages.
In any case, the csr said I must contact B of A again to get it straightened out. So I called back B of A and the csr agreed there was no such restriction of sign up being June 1, 2006 or later (althought there is mention that you must sign up by August 31, 2006 and use the card by Nov 1, 2006). So she filed an Investigation Form and I am now waiting on the results which I should receive in 7-10 days via US Mail.
Both csr's were very nice and tried to be as helpful as they could so I'm not too ticked about the "run-around" .... as long as I get the 24,000 points.
I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

I think my points posted a couple of days after my credit card statement closed but I don't know if that is normal or not ....
Since you really don't have much time between your closing date and your trip, you might want to make a backup reservation that can be cancelled if your points get posted in time (and if you are able to make a last minute award reservation) .... most of the time you can cancel up until 6 pm on the day you check in ....

If that's the direction you'd want to do it, I don't see the harm of calling BofA and asking just that, generically. (If it were the other direction, you might not want to call if it would give them a clue it was the NEW card you'd want to get rid of!)

Well, I can tell you this much:
The other people who were denied tried early in the promotion period, and were denied based supposedly based on already having a Choice Visa. BofA can figure that out quickly without pulling your credit report, I would think.
I applied late last week, and Equifax credit monitoring (free from PayPal) sent me an email a day or so later telling me that BofA had just done an Inquiry.
As of right now, they still haven't made up their minds. (I bet my credit report is a bit hard to make sense of, since my primary card is a Diners Club charge card which doesn't report to the credit agencies right now!)
But I don't see why they would be going through all this work if they were going to reject me SOLELY because I already had a Choice Visa.
Fwiw, my first Choice Visa was earlier this year, but a couple months before the 24k promo started up. So I'm not trying for a second 24k, I'm just trying for the 24k in the first place (I only got 8k on my first card).
My understanding (from other credit card companies) is that you typically have to wait more than 90 days between applications for cards from the same bank. It's not clear to me if the people who were rejected near the start of this promo were simply applying too soon or not...

I got the 8K bonus, and was rejected for the 24K, but that was only a month or so after I got the first one.
Let us know how you make out 'cuz I'd like to pick up another 24K if possible.

Sorry, no time!
I mean, it's 6:30 pm PT and they still say "we need more time" (ie, no decision yet), and meanwhile (depending on which time zone they use to evaluate whether you signed up by 31 Aug) there's only a few hours left to sign up and get the 24k bonus. So if you wait until I can tell you my results, it'll be too late for you to go for this promo! So I suggest (if you read this in time) that you go ahead and try without knowing how I made out. :)

Let us know how you make out 'cuz I'd like to pick up another 24K if possible. As I said before, too late for you to wait to make a decision by the time I find out, but:
On Friday 8/1 (8 days after I applied), they notified me that they had rejected me, but won't tell me the reason except in a snail mail letter they say I'll get sometime in the next month. Chances are (given how long it took, given that they did a credit inquiry a week before the decision) that it had to do with something other than just having gotten another Choice Visa 4 months earlier. (Of note: The month after I got my first Choice Visa this April, I applied for an got the first-annual-fee-waived Citibank AA card for 25k bonus AA miles, and then applied for an Amex Blue that I'd gotten an application for in the mail and on that Amex Blue did a 0% balance transfer to deal with the fact that I bunched up so much spending this May to take advantage of numerous AA 25th Anniversary bonuses which were only good that month, sometimes only good on specific days of that month. So quite it likely they looked at all that, plus didn't see "sensible" monthly activity from me since my primary card is Diners Club which doesn't currently report to credit bureaus, and likely the reason I was turned down has to do with some combination of all that.)

Let us know how you make out 'cuz I'd like to pick up another 24K if possible. They sent me the letter weeks later, and listed the only reason as "Choice Visa accounts are limited to one per customer"!
Ok, but:
(1) Why couldn't they have just said that in the T&Cs?!?!?
(2) Why couldn't they have rejected my application immediately (since they don't have to go outside the bank to figure out that I already had another Choice Visa card!)?
(3) Why in the $#&*#&@Q($*&#(*$#@*& did they had to run a credit check, if they were going to reject me simply because I already had another Choice Visa account, which again they didn't need to go outside their own bank to figure out!!!
What boneheads!
(I'm trying to figure how to call them and ask them all the above, but calmly! :) )

Anyone have any idea if BofA will run a similar promo this year? It would be nice!
