i hope this is the right place to post this but here we go. i book an AA award going from tlv-mnl in business class. the flight goes tlv-hkg (elal) hkg-mnl (cathay) i have been told that elal cant issue me a cx boarding pass in tlv, but when i tell elal in tlv that my final destination is mnl, will they ask me for my flight number and ticket in order to tag my bag correctly? or how does it work. 2nd is elal/cathay good about not loosing bags or what are my chances of getting my bag when i land in MNL. lastly i saw somewhere in this forum that elal will pay for a hotel if the layover is more than 6 hours, is this true? if so coming back i go mnl-tlv and i have a layover in hkg for 6 and 1/2 hours. thanks

Apparently this depends on the airport, not on the combination of LY and CX. I recently did the same but it was in BKK, not HKG and there was no problem interlining my luggage. I was unable to get my boarding pass in BKK until some 3.5 hours before the scheduled time for the flight. Not sure of the case for HKG.

I haven't had either carrier loose my bags yet. YMMV.

According to my travel coordinator this is a BKK-specific thing. That said, the service has something to do with LY Connection service so you might as well ask LY about it. Not sure if that has to be done at the airport or beforehand or what the time requirement is.

my question regarding the baggage is when i check in to tlv and then tag the bag MNL, do they tag in with my cx flight # so it arrives when i arrive?

If HKG is an airport that LY can do interlining of luggage within then the answer should be yes.
