Hi,

I will be in Las Vegas for two months, doing an internship at Harrah's, in the Caesar's Palace location.

I have been looking high and low for a short term furnished apartment, and have had limited success. One offer that I have received is:

$1150/month INCLUDED:
ALL utilties
2 TVs w/145 channels of Direct TV
local phone
Actual computer (PC and Monitor) w/high-speed DSL access
Location: 3000 Di Salvo (Twain and Valley View 89103)
FULLY furnished w/linens,dishes,silveware,etc
ALL appliances ,washer/dryer in the unit
PLUS coffemaker,toaster and blender
GATED,very quiet community (I have 4 units rented in there,everybody LOVES it),pool,jacuzzi,BBQ

I would appreciate any thoughts that you have especially about the neigborhood. I have a few photos of the apartment and it looks quite basic.

Thanks,

Andy

The neighborhood is exceptionally close to the Strip and to Ceasars. So the commute is great.

The neighborhood, on the west side of I-15 north of the Rio, seems iffy to me, just because it's close to industrial stuff. The gated aspect helps. From Google maps, I see it's a two-pool community. Make of that what you will. :D :D :D

They have an Asiatown in that neighborhood with a lot of Phô and other Asian restaurants.

The neighborhood is not great. All of the apartments in that area are gated - the doors and windows are usually barred as well. My son stayed in two different gated apartment complex's not too far from the one you are considering. The "gates" almost never worked. The guard at the gate also let anyone in. His truck was broken into in the parking lot of one. I would look for something in a better neighborhood.

On the plus side it is very close to the Rio which would give you a shuttle to Harrah's.

I've been looking for a short term rental as well to bring the family out for a vacation. Take a look at this site http://vacationhomes.com/city_search.cfm?l=480 they rent mostly houses, but many of the rental rates are less than the 1200.00. There is also a Residence Inn very close to Harrah's.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

DenverBrian, could you please elaborate on what you meant by the two pool community.

I am having second thoughts about this apartment. Would you absolutely not recommend this area?

Are there any other resources to find a short term furnished rental in Las Vegas that one can suggest?

Thanks,
Andy

You stated "I have 4 units rented in there, everybody LOVES it." Does this mean that you know people that are already renting there? If so, have you asked them about it? Just a little confused by the statement.

That was the email the broker sent me. She supposedly has 4 units rented in there. Basically some individuals own these condos and she acts as their agent.

Thanks.

When you spy on that community from above using the satellite images available on Google Maps, two kidney-shaped pools show up within that community.

Hi Denver Brian,

Thanks for your message.

I took a look at Google maps as well and saw the pools. Should they be any reason for concern or does their existence indicate something about the condo/community?

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks for that clarification. Personally, I'd take the opinion of the FTers above over that of a broker. I don't know the area, so can't comment, but FTers have rarely sent me in the wrong direction.

OMG...It's Andy, the literal FTer!!! :D :D :D

Two pools could mean two times the chance to meet an attractive male or female. Or it could mean that the community is at least "luxury" enough that they built it with not one, but two pools. Or it could mean there's lots of screaming kids running around.

Hence...make of it what you will.
