(Crain’s) — Developers broke ground Tuesday on the first phase of a $500 million mixed-used development in Rosemont that the village mayor has dubbed “Disneyland North.”

Comprising hotels, restaurants, a movie multi-plex and office space, the Rosemont Walk will eventually fill 60 acres surrounding the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center and ideally turn the community into a destination for conventioneers.

Sweet Willie:

There was an article in the TRIB yesterday about the waterpark that will be part of this. 100,000+ square feet, almost as big as the biggest one in WI.

$250-600 a night, though.

I don't think anyone will confuse Rosemont with Disneyland. But it does sound like the mayor has already taken up residence in FantasyLand. :D

This is such a stupid idea. Nothing about it makes me think of Disneyland. Come on Rosemont - try again......

Anyone remember that place in Bollingbrook? - what was it called? Old Chicago?

This will consume huge amounts of money and then die a (slow or fast, I'm not sure which) death. Stupid idea.
