I have a small amount of US Airways Dividend Miles (about 17,000) and since I have moved back to the midwest from NY, I never fly them anymore. Does anyone have suggestions on other programs or uses I can apply my miles towards?

Depends where in the midwest. Im at ORD with US previously only going nonstop to PHL, CLT, PIT, recently DCA and w/ the merger PHX and LAS. Ive managed to become prefferred, and earn thousands of miles! I love US! According to everyone at US Airways and HP at ORD, they call me US Airways' Chicago Best and favorite Customer along with my parents!

Anyhow... you can redeem them for mags too. Not as nice as free flights though...

You can also transfer them to America West at 1:1. You can redeem FlightFund miles through Points.com, but the redemption rate is poor (about 12,000 miles for $10 merchandise).

Generally, US/HP points offer lower redemption value on points.com. AA miles seem to be worth the most thus higher redemption value.

Get a credit card with bonus miles and use the free ticket (or give it to someone), or donate miles (inc. credit card miles to any charitable program US has).

Is there a way to redeem miles for magazines? I could not find a link on the US Airways website. Anyway to transfer to NWA/Delta/Continental?

Thanks!

I think the Magazine thing is dead.

I believe you could transfer miles via points.com to Delta.

Are you losing it buddy?

Mags went dead a while ago. Purchasing 8k miles for a free domestic will be a little cheaper than purchasing the ticket, not a great savings there. Get a Card that offers 10K + miles for signing up, take the ticket and ditch the card.

I think the Magazine thing is dead.

I just got a letter in the mail saying I could get magazine for my miles. I called up the number at the bottom (800-586-9632) but was told the only way to order is to mail in the form. The letter gives a web site: www.magsformiles.com/29419 but it doesn't work. If you take off 29419 it does work, but only gives a few choices. The form I received via US Mail had more choices. I choice "The Week" which is a great news magazine. I cancelled Newsweek and read The Week now.

Thanks!What a difference a month makes!

Hold onto those miles, keeping them active however you can (download an iTune?), and if the US-DL merger goes through, eventually the miles may be transferred to your DL account. :)

I got a mailing last week saying my US Air miles are going to expire in January... why not request some of these nice (list of 20 or 30) magazines?

I looked for it online Dividend Miles site today, but couldn't find any reference to it. I called CS and asked if it was possible to order the magazines online. The CSR said yes, but that sometimes the Web has a smaller selection than the mailing. I asked him if he could help me find it online... he tried for quite some time and seemed surprised when he couldn't find it either. Put me on hold for an "inquiry" - when he came back, he was puzzled - unable to find out why the link isn't on the Website. He gave me a phone number for Miles For Magazines and said to use phone menu options #1 and #4.

I called
1-800-586-9632
(Be warned it's one of those phone menu systems that prefer voice commands to dial tones. )

"You've reached US Airways Magazine Service Center where your miles can be redeemed for magazines at absolutely no cost to you..."

Call #1: CSR said I should look on my mailing. If there's a URL there, then the airline allows online ordering. If there's not, no Website - must send in the form. I asked how you give a magazine subscription as a gift then? She said to fill out an index card and send it along, one card for each magazine/gift clearly stating "GIFT," the code, and the recipient's address.

Call #2: CSR said I should look on www.points.com and go to the magazines section -- the list is the same. I don't think I can do this though because I'm not logged in.

Yeah that's what I need another account and more points to keep track of.

I don't have the offer in front of me so I don't know if there was a Website listed or not.... I will probably try to redeem expiring miles for mags.

How did you manage to order whichever magazines those were through this website? When I go there, I can't see the offerings. They are supposed to appear "below," but there is nothing "below" other than a form to completed with one's information, no place to designate which magazines one is after.

I thought I could order the WSJ, perhaps getting 153 issues for 1,800 US miles, which would be a good deal. Does anyone know if that is still available, and if so, can they tell me how to go about ordering?

I'll verify that the link

http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/dividendmiles/default.aspx?c=hp_dm

was working as of May 19, 2008

Clicking on : Get a magazine subscription with your Dividend Miles

took me to this link:

MyBonusCenter Site (http://xp3.mybonuscenter.com/pxp/hug/05058402/portal.htm?sid=7bd1809179687ed84371c56c3017a73e)

There was a LARGE selection (imho) COMPARED TO the mail flyers they send out. It was a small selection overall, of course.

I found there a magazine I actually wanted - The Economist - I rarely see that in the mail flyers.
