Can anyone recommend a 3* or better hotel in Mendoza, AR? Or give me a website to search? Nothing looks too good on Orbitz, Travelocity or Expedia.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If you want top quality, the Park Hyatt Mendoza (http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134832) is supposed to be great.

Have you checked out TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g312781-Mendoza_Province_of_Mendoza_Cuyo-Hotels.html)? I often find it helpful in picking a hotel

www.tripadvisor.com is a good place to start.

If the Spanish is not a problem, this has worked too: http://www.despegar.com.ar/homes/viajes.html

You can't go wrong with the Park Hyatt. You can refer to the discussion of that property in the Hyatt Gold Passport forum.

I haven't stayed at the Park Hyatt in Mendoza, but I have had lunch at their terrace with view over the central square, and I have visited the casino there, and it is a VERY nice hotel. Otherwise, there are a number of hotels that claim to be 3*, but by western standards woulcn't be more than 2*

I have used the Park Hyatt's restaurant and it has always been first rate. Don't know the rooms but when we travel to Mendoza we like to stay "in the country" as it were. The Finca Adalgisa is a great place to stay and I would recommend it highly as it is a diffferent experience from staying at chain hotels. They have a website which is:

I have heard Finca Adalgisa recommended as well, and I believe it is recommended in the SAS Crew Guide as well!

Off topic, but funny (to me anyway):

I saw a link to this thread on the Flyertalk "front page", where it's not stated which board a thread comes from. I looked at "Mendoza, AR" and thought Arkansas. I then thought "I've never heard of Mendoza, Arkansas, but if there is such a place, I *highly* doubt there are 3* hotels there". I proceeded to click on the thread out of curiosity to find who was going to a small town in Arkansas and thought there would be a nice hotel around!!

I stayed in the Hotel Acangagua last April. It was quite nice and VERY reasonably priced. They should have finished the new bar/restaurant by now. The staff at the hotel was very nice. It's located in downtown Mendoza right next to one of the Plazas... http://www.hotelaconcagua.com/

I visit Mendoza very often now that Im in the Wine Industry. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with any of the below places that Im comenting on.

The Hotel Aconcagua is a good budget hotel. Nothing fancy, some rooms that have still not been refurbished may seem a little spartan to some, but everything is clean and the staff try hard. If you factor in the price, its a very reasonable proposition.

Im a huge fan of the Park Hyatt´s restaurant and other facilities, but the rooms and related experiences can be a little inconsistent. They are running quite high in occupancy, so rates there will not be cheap, its probably a good place to burn Hyatt points if you have them.

If you are visiting Mendoza and are interested in wines, I would strongly suggest looking into alternative non-urban lodging. There are many bodegas that are offering lodging, and other not centrally located inns in all price segments that are very good options. A small drawback to many of the nicer and smaller places is that they are not hooked up to the conventional reservation systems, so unless you contact them directly or have a very sharp travel agent, they will take a little work to dig up.

My shortlist for places to investigate:

1) Postales del Plata. This venture is owned by a US investor group, with one partner usually present in Mendoza. Excellent service and reasonable prices (considering the quality of services offered). They offer two locations, one in Chacras de Coria and another in the Uco Valley. Both locations are strategic and let you attack different areas of the Mendoza Wine Country. They even have a US toll free number (866) 963-7870. http://www.postalesdelplata.com/

2) Club Tapiz. A small boutique country inn with 6-7 rooms, part of the winery Tapiz (previously owned by Kendall Jackson). Great service, friendly staff that speak good English. Very good restaurant on premises, with a wine list that not only has the house wines of Tapiz, but a good selection of other bodegas from all over Argentina. This inn is run by a small chain of boutique hotels, check them out on the web at http://www.newage-hotels.com/

Another option for lodging in the Valle de Uco area is Posada Salentein. For details, see http://www.bodegasalentein.com/cas/bodegas/posada.asp
