It must be work or perhaps my new marriage. All I can say is I've stumbled across a few shortcomings of my own that have left me embarrrassed at the least. I think it all started when I said Alaskan and AZ was quite the gentleman to correct me :p
Anyhow, I was on HP 551 today to DFW. This flight number originated this morning in SFO, and checking the status of this flight it appeared that it would not be arriving into Phoenix until 3.40 PM, 35 mins after the scheduled continuation of this flight number to Dallas. Well I for some god unknown reason assumed they would be using the same a/c for the continuation and comfortably continued my business at my desk. At 2.15 PM (10 mins prior to the originally scheduled board time of 551, phx-dfw) I decided to call the plat line and get info on the inbound SFO 733 and find out the dealio. "Yes sir, HP 551 from SFO is due at 3.50 at gate B4. Your flight leaves gate A1 on time"
I live in the vicinity of 56th Street and Greenway. I wheeled out of my driveway at 2.20 PM. I was sitting in 2C at 2.50 ^ I've never seen Camelback Mnt fly by so quick :D I had so much angst walking up to A concourse security b/c of lines. Thankfully being mid afternoon Wed, I knew it would be slow, unless they directed me to the dreaded line 1 where that GE puffer equipment is to detect narcotics. Thankfully, I had the other line, line 2, where there were only 5 people in line, and of course with my luck some yahoo in line who booked his trip this time last year on ATA was walking through the metal detector with chains, phones, change, etc--good grief. I was practically undressed by the time I fired my stuff through the conveyor. Thank god this flight was leaving 40 feet away at A1! By this time they were calling group 15 and any remaining stragglers. It's kind of odd to find myself in such a place as where the gate is practically empty. Of course knowing this bird was the beloved 733 I just boarded and said to the f/a without even looking at the OSB's "yeah, I think I'll be gate checking this pleaese". Pink slip in hand, I sat down in 2C and asked myself how could I possibly assume HP would use the same a/c for this 551 continuation and be so late. Never assume
