Hi all,

My new company doesn't have a preferred car service (and I positively hated the one at my last company). Anybody have recommendations for a decent car service to take me from my home in SJ to SFO & return? I don't need fancy. I just need reliable.

Thanks in advance!

I've used Palo Alto-based Front Travel (www.fronttravel.com) mutliple times. I found them reliable enough to recommend to my employer, and we now have an official arrangement in place. You can also call them at 650-328-7272 or toll free at 877-717-7272.

Should you anticipate regular usage, I suggest asking for a fixed rate for a pre-determined period, say 6 months or a year. Perhaps in response to rising demand, Front seems to have raised their rates a couple of times over the past 18 months.

Apart from being a customer, I have no connection with Front Travel.

That web page for fronttravel must contain the lowest information content of any website I've seen in quite a while. I tried to find out where in Palo Alto they were located, how many and what kinds of cars they had, what their rates were, who is running it, etc., and NONE of that is on the website. But there is an annoying beep and a lot of silly moving dots.

PushPak, do you have any further specifics about the firm?

Sorry for the delayed reply. I don't usually read this side of the boards.

I agree that Front Travel's web side is awful. It's a pretty small operation run by a nice fellow called Lawrence Desilva.

Last week I was dropped off in one towncar (may have been another type, I'm not an expert) and picked up in another; apparently they have at least two cars. The exec assistant at my company who handles the limo contracts tells me everyone is happy with Front. Over the past year or so I've found them very reliable.

Unfortunately I don't know about the rates. They bill my employer directly. You might want to call and inquire at the numbers I'd provided.
