Can anyone recommend a place with nice atmosphere, good food & service. (no chains) We are taking my MIL out for her 82nd birthday and would like some ideas. My DH and I are driving in from Wilmington for the day and are unfamiliar with restaurants there. Also can be in Southern Pines. Not sure if it will be lunch or dinner yet so any recommendations would be helpful.
TIA

Bonefish. It's a chain, but a good one.
For more local flair, Shuckers.

Thanks, we have Bonefish here in ILM. Not really looking for a chain but I'll check out Shuckers. Thanks very much

Another option is the restaurant at the Holly Inn in the village of Pinehurst. I believe that is called the 1895 Grill or something like that. Really really great place, I think it consistently rates 4 diamonds from AAA.

Happy birthday to your MIL.
