Wow! 50% off thats pretty good. considering it'd take me another 4 years to earn enough to actually fly a YYZ-YVR segment from airmiles.

Obviously WS is not doing well on these flights. Would you ever see Apple put iPODs on special?? ;) :D

Looks good. I scoffed at Simon's argument initially, then I looked at the routes... YEG-YYZ, YYC-YHZ, YYC-YQR..... interesting.

Feel free to scoff. This was borrowed from WS founder #4s argument last week that AC launching YEG-LAX with sale fares meant that they were floundering. Sarcasm fully intended in my original post :)

Noticed YYZ-LAS on the above list. Is LAS considered "domestic"?

It's not in AC's world, or I would have put in a transfer request long ago. :)

Of course with promos like this thye get bums in seats and can then brag about %'s of asm/casm/prasm and spasm while making another excuse for not meeting profit expectations.

My serious view of this is that Wetjet has awaken to the threat that AC poses as a result of more and better frequencies with new modern planes and many more to come over the next year or so. Gee, imagine being able to connect from a new ERJ to a new or refurbished 777/763.

#4?

You haven't read the book, have you. ;)

It depends what AM thru into the deal. It's never a one way street. They like to see points burned too.

As for YEG-LAX, the point was that it is not a new city pair for AC. AC has been selling YEG-LAX for decades. If there is so much demand for this route on a n/s basis, with, supposedly, the "right sized aircraft", why would you have to discount the launch? Does IPOD discount the launch of their latest and greatest product?

;)

IF you bothered to read, you would be aware that the sale prices had very sticky attachments to them. It draws attention to the non-stop route, and perhaps they sell some seats on flights that are less popular than those at other times of the week.

Canadian Tire just opened a huge superstore in my neighbourhood, and had whacks of opening specials.

Are they worried that this store is about to go out of business?

It's called "marketing". As opposed to "look at me, I'm a Westjetter bringing you your belongings back. Coffee, tea, or me?"

I'm pretty sure when Westjet came to town, they had $99 introductory YXU-YWG fares. Likewise with the $125 YXU-YYC fares a short time later.

Mr. Hi... CB's response will be that those were NEW routes that WS was operating, not ones that they had operated for decades, albeit using Patented Tarmac To Tarmac Service (TM), and a super-fun connection in YYC.

You see, it's always different when WS or one of his friends does something.

Well, in the OP of this thread it does say:

GOLD Collectors must have a valid e-mail address at time of booking

True, but it also says "7-day advance purchase (2-day for GOLD Collectors)* is required"
