I shall be in CMB for the best part of two weeks from Saturday onwards and wish to make a quick day trip to South India.

As there does not seem to be any airlines with which I have status that fly these routes, I may as well go LCC as save some cash.

What are my options ?

Jet Airways, which flies MAA-CMB-MAA is a good bet, and honors (or used to!) NW/KL Gold for lounge access (in India, assume same in CMB, but for for sure in MAA).

Also you can accrue miles on NW by flying 9w. (Jet Airways)

Might want to try srilankan. i dont think that would be much cheaper either
but you might be able to earn miles with EK (emirates) partner airlines.

£133 per person is the IATA published fare between CMB and MAA, which is what you are being charged :eek:

The fare drops to around £107 per person if you buy the ticket in Sri Lanka.

Finally booked on UL, 343 outbound and 332 inbound (yay!), grhaand total 19.700 LKR (150 Euro app.)

Try to organize a tourist taxi ahead of your travel and let them work out where to take you. There are multiple temples, the Fort, St Thomas mount (right next to the airport), a really long beach and plenty of shopping. If you want tips re the last, pm me.
